    An excellent career opportunity is currently available in online analytical support in the Material Characterization Sensor Group for an R&D Engineer/Scientist II within Honeywell UOP’s Research and Development organization. Located in Riverside, IL, this position offers an exceptional opportunity to support the development and delivery of technology aligned with Honeywell UOP’s pivot to providing sustainable solutions to customers as well as driving growth of core technology platforms.

    Key Responsibilities:

    •Ensure quality and availability of online analytical data to support pilot plant operations, including **on-call availability to occasionally support manufacturing operations 24 hours/7 days a week .**

    •Work with occasional supervision to build, maintain and install analytical instrumentation in pilot plant areas.

    •Collaborate with senior personnel to troubleshoot problems with analytical equipment and related systems.

    •Develop a general knowledge of UOP processes and R&D pilot plants.

    •Use experience to discuss and recommend what equipment and analyses should be implemented on projects.

    •Understand the relationship between adverse sampling techniques (phase, temperature, pressure, etc.) and the performance of online equipment.

    •Troubleshoot and verify online analyses and plant operations as problems arise, in collaboration with pilot plant technicians and researchers.

    •Be accountable for working in compliance with all HS&E safety requirements and procedures.

    The annual base salary range for this position is $90,400-$107,700. Please note that this salary information serves as a general guideline. Honeywell considers various factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to the scope and responsibilities of the position, the candidate’s work experience, education and training, key skills, as well as market and business considerations.

     

    The application period for the job is estimated to be 40 days from the job posting date; however, this may be shortened or extended depending on business needs and the availability of qualified candidates.

PERSON REQUIREMENTS:** Due to compliance with U.S. export control laws and regulations, candidate must be a U.S. Person, which is defined as, a U.S. citizen, a U.S. permanent resident, or have protected status in the U.S. under asylum or refugee status or have the ability to obtain an export authorization.

    YOU MUST HAVE

    + Bachelor of Arts or Science degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or Materials Science

    + 2 years’ experience related to Gas Chromatography/Analytical Instrumentation

     

    (Bachelors requirement may be substituted with equivalent combination of education and relevant experience such as Associate’s Degree in Chemistry or Materials Science with 6 years of relevant experience, or HS Diploma with 10 years of related work experience in online gas chromatography, real-time process chromatography, or Process Analytical Technology (PAT)

    WE VALUE

    •An understanding of gas chromatography principles as well as experience and mechanical skills for the use, repair, and calibration of online gas chromatographs.

    •Research experience with instrumental analytical chemistry procedures, including quantitative analysis.

    •Computer literacy (Microsoft Word, Excel, and Power Point) and the ability to quickly learn to use a variety of software

    •Ability to design experiments and conduct applied research.

    •Experience with spectroscopic instrumentation.

    •Programming experience (Excel macro/script writing, MATLAB, Python, LabView, etc.).

    •A knowledge of one or more UOP processes.

    •Ability to apply statistical analysis to data sets.

    •Effective oral and written communication skills.

    •The ability to work with minimal supervision
