Cabinet Peaks Medical Center is seeking a Veteran Services Coordinator to join our Family Medicine Team!
The Veteran Services Coordinator (VOC) provides services to patients of Cabinet Peaks Clinic-Family Medicine (CPFM) through VA authorizations, care coordination and follow-up. VA coordination includes but is not limited to assisting VA patients transferring care to CPFM with transfer paperwork, meeting VA scheduling guidelines and pre-authorization requests. This position will also coordinate all incoming referrals to CPFM, inclusive of VA patients and non-VA patients. The VOC will also assist CPFM front desk staff with scheduling and check-ins as needed.
Major Job Duties & Responsibilities
Maintain ongoing tracking and appropriate documentation on VA patients and all incoming referrals.
Be the navigator and point of contact for VA patients and families who have questions or concerns regarding VA coordination of care.
Obtain, manage and maintain VA authorizations, both primary and renewals. Communicate this information to patient, clinical and front office staff.
Be the navigator and point of contact for all incoming referrals to CPFM.
Provide support to Front Office staff, including scheduling. Assume role of front office reception on an as needed basis.
Respond to inquiries related to VA service coordination and all incoming referrals via phone and email.
Is an engaged participant in assigned committees/meetings with consistent attendance.
Assist in the day to day operations of the front office functions at CPFM as needed.
Accept and act upon all duties and/or projects assigned by Management to the best of his/her ability.
Develop and sustain effective relationships with stakeholders to include: patient, internal customers, employees, providers, vendors and administration.
Complete other tasks as assigned.
Skills, Knowledge, & Abilities
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with patients, CPMC staff members, and the public.
Proficient computer skills including work processing and spreadsheet software; Meditech knowledge preferred.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
Knowledge of medical terminology and third party payor methodology is desired.
Ability to operate basic office equipment.
Knowledge of medical office operations.
Schedule
Based on the needs of the clinic.
Education Requirements
High school graduate or equivalent.
BLS certification preferred; must obtain within 3 months of hire.
Two or more years of progressive management experience in related setting preferred.
Experience
5 years of medical office experience preferred.
