Who we’re looking for
Toyota Motor North America (TMNA) Accounting and Finance Division is looking for a highly motivated and qualified Senior Manager – International Tax Planning.
The primary responsibility of this “Director Level” role is to manage internal international tax planning, transfer pricing and international tax compliance matters; use of external tax counsel, external tax planning resources including accounting firms; and to be the TMNA International tax representative to tax committees in various tax trade groups and their tax committees such as Global Automakers, Tax Executives Institute, Organization for International Investment, and National Association for Manufacturers for all North American based Toyota sales, manufacturing and research functions.
Reporting to the Executive – General Manager – Tax, the Senior Manager – International Tax Planning is typically the "face" of international tax and transfer pricing advice and tax recommendations to major business partners inside the company (Finance Director, Treasury Leader, Legal, Human Resources and Corporate Strategy) and to federal, state, local and international tax agencies.
What you’ll be doing
+ Manages the success of North American international tax planning strategies and transfer pricing policies.
+ Retains outside tax counsel or external accounting firms as needed for transfer pricing, tax audits, appeals and planning.
+ Stays connected and informed regarding new or changing business developments that may impact the tax environment (e.g., exporting to a new foreign country, investing in a new or expanded manufacturing facility, changes in business operations, and establishment of new subsidiaries).
+ Manage coordination of global transfer pricing efforts and strategies which require close coordination at a Toyota worldwide level, including Toyota Japan, Toyota Europe, and all Toyota North American affiliates. Examples can range from simple business proposals to changes in historical cost chargebacks between US and foreign affiliates to more complicated cross-border responsibilities for minimizing foreign tax withholding obligations on inbound and outbound transactions.
+ Assure tax compliance for intercompany transfer pricing on multi-billion of annual cross-border purchases and sales of vehicles, parts, manufacturing components, and royalties with related parties.
+ Closely monitors federal, state, local,l and international tax legislative and regulatory developments.
+ Approve uncertain tax position calculations and related financial statement disclosures relating to international tax matters and assist in overall accounting for income tax (tax provision), quarterly and year-end efforts.
What you bring
+ Substantial experience in a large to medium-sized corporate tax department.
+ Public accounting audit/tax experience and public accounting tax senior manager level experience, including significant experience with accounting for income taxes and international tax issues.
+ Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Business
+ CPA required or Juris Doctor (Tax LL.M. preferred) required.
+ Demonstrated strong analytical, technical writing, executive presentation, and negotiation skills.
+ Ability to work collaboratively and independently across all levels of the Company.
