    Job Title: Phlebotomist III

    Job Description

    The primary role of a Phlebotomist III is to assist with various assigned duties, including troubleshooting, training, and making workflow recommendations. This position involves performing blood draws, labeling specimens, centrifuging specimens, recording maintenance data, updating patient information, and decontaminating as needed. The phlebotomist is responsible for collecting and storing specimens according to established procedures and providing clear explanations to patients regarding the venipuncture process and other specimen collections.

    Responsibilities

    + Perform blood collections by venipuncture and capillary techniques for all age groups.

    + Collect specimens for drug screens, paternity tests, alcohol tests, etc.

    + Perform data entry of patient information accurately and timely.

    + Process billing information and collect payments when required.

    + Prepare all collected specimens for testing and analysis.

    + Maintain patient and specimen information logs.

    + Provide superior customer service to all patients.

    + Perform administrative and clerical duties as necessary.

    + Travel to additional sites when needed.

    + Package specimens for transport, ensuring correct labeling and storage requirements are met.

    + Understand and comply with OSHA and DEP regulations.

    + Attend annual department trainings.

    + Answer telephone calls and read laboratory results to satisfy inquiries.

    Essential Skills

    + Valid Phlebotomy certification for the state of employment.

    + 6 months' work experience performing venipunctures in a fast-paced lab or hospital setting- open to candidates straight out of externship

    + Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.

    + High School Diploma or GED.

    + Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.

    + Ability to work independently or in a team environment.

    Additional Skills & Qualifications

    + Phlebotomy certification from an accredited agency is preferred.

    + Previous experience as a phlebotomist with a track record of exceptional customer service.

    + Reliable transportation and clean driving record, if applicable.

    + Flexibility to work overtime as needed.

    + Ability to pass a standardized color blindness test.

    Work Environment

    The Phlebotomist I will work in a medium-sized Patient Service Center, predominantly standing during shifts. The role involves working with a team and servicing patients ranging from newborns to the elderly. The first week of employment will be dedicated to orientation.     Pay and Benefits

    The pay range for this position is $17.00 - $18.00/hr.
