    As an integral member of the CFO Advisory Team, the Fund Accounting Director will play a key role in driving growth across our front and back-office service offerings within the asset management sector. This is a strategic, client-facing role focused on expanding market presence, shaping service delivery models, and building high-performing teams. The Director will work closely with leadership to foster a team culture, design and deliver solutions for hedge funds, private equity, private debt, real estate funds, and other alternative investment managers.

    Your day-to-day may include:

    + Leading go-to-market initiatives to identify and secure new business opportunities in the asset management sector.

    + Developing tailored proposals and solutions to meet client needs across CFO advisory, operational advisory, and financial integration services.

    + Building and scaling delivery teams to support client engagements across front office, middle office, and back-office functions.

    + Managing end-to-end project delivery with a focus on adding strategic value, improving operational efficiency, and supporting client growth ambitions.

    + Acting as a trusted advisor to CFOs, Controllers, and Fund Managers, providing insight on market trends, operational best practices, and finance transformation.

    + Overseeing financial reporting, finance integration, and regulatory reporting workstreams at a leadership level, where applicable.

    + Supporting the development and refinement of product offerings in response to market demand.

    + Coaching, mentoring, and developing a high-performing team culture with a focus on practical problem-solving, commercial acumen, and client service excellence.

    + Driving internal process improvement initiatives to scale the practice sustainably.

    + Collaborating with cross-functional teams (e.g., tax, audit, risk advisory) to deliver comprehensive client solutions.

    + Supporting business development activities, including opportunity identification, pursuit strategy, proposal development, and presentations.

    + Meeting or exceeding personal and practice-level financial targets, including utilization and revenue growth metrics.

    + Other strategic and leadership responsibilities as needed.

    You have the following skills or qualifications:

    + Bachelor’s degree required (Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field preferred).

    + 10+ years of experience in financial consulting, finance operations, CFO advisory, or a senior leadership role in a financial institution or asset manager.

    + Strong background in corporate accounting, finance integration, regulatory reporting, or financial operations within asset management organizations.

    + Proven experience in client-facing roles with responsibility for business development and revenue growth.

    + Practical understanding of fund structures (hedge, private equity, private debt, real estate) and the operating environments of asset managers.

    + Strong project management skills with a focus on operational improvement, finance transformation, or technology enablement initiatives.

    + Demonstrated ability to build and lead teams, manage senior stakeholders, and drive practice-level initiatives.

    + Professional certification is required.

    + Experience in fast paced advisory, private equity, alternative asset management, or similar consulting environments is highly desirable.

    + Ability to travel as needed. Expected travel up to 80%.

    + Benefits for internship positions: Grant Thornton interns are eligible to participate in the firm’s medical, dental and vision insurance programs and the firm’s employee assistance program.
