This position is part of the Agency Support Operations, Government Publishing Office in Washington, District of Columbia. Responsibilities Initiate work and ensures that instructions and information received from the supervisor are relayed to other workers. Use facilities management systems to track labor and material costs associated with each project and present to management as needed. Use the agency's Computerized Maintenance Management System to submit and review work orders, update status, order parts, and maintain inventory balances. Install, maintain, and repair control systems and components. Ensure necessary materials and tools are available for use prior to performing work assignments Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications To qualify for the Electrician Leader, KE -2805-00, you must meet the following requirements: Applicants must meet the following Screen-Out element, Job Element #73 - Ability to Lead or Supervise as an Electrician Leader to be considered for this position. Applicants must have experience and/or training of sufficient scope and quality to independently perform the duties typically required of an Electrician Leader. Examples of these duties include: 1) Serve as the first-line leader that ensure employees follow work instructions and safety protocol in accordance with Directives, policy, and guidance; 2) Coordinate repair efforts with other leaders to maintain shift to shift continuity; 3) Track material costs and reports costs in the Computerized Maintenance Management System; and 4) Maintenance and repair of the electrical systems used in the manufacturing process. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Only experience obtained by the closing date of this announcement will be considered. Education Substitution of education in lieu of specialized experience may not be used for this grade level. Background Investigation: For a Suitability: To ensure the accomplishment of its mission, the GPO requires every employee to be reliable and trustworthy; this position requires a background investigation for Suitability. To meet those standards, all selected applicants must undergo and successfully complete a background check for Suitability. This review could include fingerprints and credit checks, as well as a full field FBI background investigation and tax and bar checks for attorney applicants. The background investigation covers a period of seven to ten years depending on the nature of the position; this process may take 6 weeks or longer. The Agency may rescind the tentative offer, if the candidate is unable to pass the background investigation.
