Job Details The ADT Systems Analyst and Principal Trainer is responsible for the design, implementation, optimization, education, and support of the Epic Grand Central module, with a dedicated focus on bed management, patient movement, and Admission–Discharge–Transfer (ADT) workflows. In addition to technical system responsibilities, this role plays a critical part in designing and delivering end-user education and training. The analyst serves as a liaison between IT, clinical operations, and Patient Access leadership to ensure efficient workflows and a well-trained user base that supports throughput, capacity management, and real-time visibility into patient location and status. Duties and Responsibilities: System Design and Support Designs, configures, tests, and maintains Epic Grand Central functionality, including patient admissions, intra-hospital transfers, discharges, bed planning, and unit-based workflows. Builds and supports tools used for bed management, unit occupancy, transfer readiness, and discharge prioritization. Maintains accurate ADT event processing to ensure real-time tracking of patient location and status within the health system. Supports surge planning, internal unit relocations, overflow strategies, and capacity optimization through proper system design. Assists in the implementation and tracking of delay codes, discharge barriers, and automated patient movement alerts. Responds to incidents, service requests, and problem tickets related to ADT and bed management, ensuring root cause analysis and documentation. Participates in downtime planning, including strategies to maintain situational awareness and continuity of care when systems are offline. Shares recurring on-call support duties to address high-priority issues during off-hours. Participates in additional projects involving ADT system analysts, such as Epic upgrades, new integrations, and data migration. Training and Education Works closely with clinical and administrative leaders and staff to understand, document, and develop training for both business and system workflows (including both automated and manual procedures). Collaborates with IT leadership and teams to define training requirements and propose education strategies and plans. Builds training materials, workflow-based guides, and evaluation tools to support adoption and ongoing proficiency. Develops training scenarios directly from documented operational workflows to support real-world application. Conducts and supports unit, application, and integrated testing to validate system build and training alignment. Coordinates change management processes for implementation of new or modified system functionality. Acts as a training resource for system go-lives, optimizations, and workflow redesigns. Collaboration and Stakeholder Engagement Partners with operational teams such as patient placement, nursing leadership, and care coordination to ensure that workflows and configuration support timely and accurate patient movement. Collaborates in cross-functional efforts to reduce discharge delays and improve throughput. Works closely with clinicians and operational leads to document, validate, and communicate workflow updates and system changes. Maintains system build documentation and training materials; ensures consistency and alignment with organizational goals. Position Requirements and Qualifications: Education: Bachelor’s degree in Health Information Technology, Nursing, Health Administration, Education, or a related field (or equivalent experience). Skills: Strong verbal and written communication skills, including public speaking and instructional design. Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills. Strong organizational, time management, and documentation skills. Ability to analyze workflows and translate them into effective training programs and system build. Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and Epic tools. Familiarity with hospital operations, bed management, patient flow, and discharge planning. Ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects in a fast-paced healthcare environment. Familiarity with performance metrics such as length of stay, boarding time, and bed turnover. Experience with Epic Reporting Workbench or similar analytics tools preferred. Experience: Minimum of 3 years’ experience supporting hospital clinical or operational systems, with direct experience in Epic Grand Central. Experience designing or delivering training programs in a healthcare IT or operational environment. Epic Grand Central certification (or must obtain within 6 months of hire). Salary Range USD $108,000.00 - USD $143,000.00 /Yr. This range serves as a good faith estimate and actual pay will encompass a number of factors, including a candidate’s qualifications, skills, competencies and experience. The salary range or rate listed does not include any bonuses/incentive, or other forms of compensation that may be applicable to this job and it does not include the value of benefits.
