Summary:
Under the Direction of the Executive Director for Behavioral Health and in partnership with the behavioral health leadership team, the System Manager of Inpatient Behavioral Health Social Work is responsible for planning, developing and organizing clinical operations and providing clinical oversight across the CharterCARE Health System. Facilitates and maintains collaboration between the inpatient BH units across the system to optimize quality, evidence based practice, patient engagement while overseeing bed management, discharge planning and continuity of care planning. Responsible for BH inpatient reporting, tracks leading indicators, identifies and implements interventions to assist in meeting regulatory standards, quality initiatives and overall best clinical practices. Works as a liaison with community partners, community mental health centers and statewide agencies. Promotes excellence, teamwork, professionalism and professional growth and participation.
The System Manager of Inpatient Behavioral Health Social Work provides clinical duties including comprehensive assessments and evaluations, individual treatment and family meetings for patients; facilitates individual and group supervision ensuring that high quality clinical services are being provided; audits patient records ensuring that clinical records are accurate and up to date. The System Manager provides clinical oversight of treatment planning and crisis management; participates in chart audits and special projects to meet regulatory standards. System Manager will carry a case load in the department they support.
The Inpatient Behavioral Health Clinicians will report directly to the incumbent. The incumbent will develop business planning and programming that supports the goals of the CharterCARE Health System. Performs functions to prevent financial loss to the hospital while ensuring high quality of care for all patients.
Education: Master’s Degree in Social Work, Psychology, Mental Health Counseling.
Licensure: Must have active Rhode Island Licensure, LICSW preferred.
Experience: Minimum of 5-7 years of clinical experience in acute behavioral health with at least 3 years of leadership experience preferred. Will have proven track record of behavioral health program development and implementation; supervision and regulatory management of programs and services with the seriously mentally ill, substance use and co-occurring populations preferred. Candidates will be familiar with utilization review, community resources, mental health law, recovery practices, current evidence based best practices, and dual diagnosis treatment practices. Knowledge of psychiatric/medical social work or related clinical field. Ability to effectively use and teach clinical and therapeutic skills required. Skills in organization and priority setting. Ability to work cooperatively with peers and other disciplines. Ability to utilize sound interpersonal skills when interacting with patients and taking into consideration cultural background, linguistic skills and age of customers.

Working Conditions, Physical Environment and/or Safety Requirements: Works in a well-lighted and well-ventilated area. Must meet annual safety training requirements relative to a safe work place. Must meet health-testing requirements such as TB skin test annually. Frequent patient contact requires adherence to universal precautions at all times. May be required to lift heavy objects weighing 25 pounds from time to time.
