    Job Description:

    This Assistant Director, Education/Training Programs position (working title of “Assistant Director of Workforce Integration”) works in the University of Florida (UF) Herbert Wertheim College of Engineering’s Florida Semiconductor Institute (FSI).

     

    As a member of the FSI leadership team, the Assistant Director of Workforce Integration is responsible for developing and leading efforts to successfully integrate people into semiconductor careers. Informed by industry needs, the incumbent will develop programs that engage students, trainees, faculty/instructors, student advisors, and career counselors to facilitate transitions from educational programs into the active workforce. The individual will work closely with FSI and other appropriate internal and external teams to achieve these goals.

    Responsible for the following broad activities:

    - Develop and manage programs raising awareness of students, trainees, veterans, and incumbent workers to semiconductor industry opportunities, including recruitment events, marketing campaigns, career fairs, and networking events.

     

    - With an understanding of industry needs, organize professional development and career preparation programs, which may include seminars, workshops, and online training modules.

     

    - Coordinate internship programs, mentorship programs, career connection programs, and other activities that connect students, trainees, veterans, and incumbent workers with industry partners.

     

    - Promote the creation and adoption of industry-recognized certifications and credentials.

     

    - Expand and sustain relationships between FSI and industry partners, postsecondary educational institutes, career service providers, and workforce development organizations.

     

    - Manage and supervise other education/training specialists, and other related staff, providing guidance and direction for program execution.

     

    - Serve on the management team with the Director as the primary lead on FSI workforce integration programs.

     

    WORKFORCE INTEGRATION PROGRAMS: Responsible for strategizing, planning, and overseeing the execution and delivery of workforce integration programs that prepare and connect workforce to industry jobs. Collaborate with academic departments, industry partners and various state/local govt. agencies to ensure a commitment to expanding awareness and access to semiconductor careers.

     

    PROGRAM ASESSMENT: Responsible for identifying goals and implementing and analyzing assessments for program evaluation and continual process improvement. Programs will be designed in consultation and collaboration with FSI stakeholders to ensure desired outcomes are identified and programs address those needs. Track activities and outcomes, assemble regular reports, and present to stakeholders. Support planning and presentation of goals, objectives, and metrics for activities in upcoming years.

     

    COMMUNCIATIONS: Work with supervisor, FSI marketing staff, and other appropriate faculty and staff to design and deliver mutually beneficial marketing and communication products, including (as examples) researching, writing, editing, designing, proofreading and distributing content for digital and print media (e.g., publications, newsletters, booklets, brochures, posters, presentations, flyers, etc.) that may be distributed to students, families/parents, school administrators/counselors, industry, and other stakeholders.

     

    ECOSYSTEM BUILDING: Lead efforts to coordinate Florida's semiconductor ecosystem, fostering collaboration between labs, research institutions, and manufacturing facilities. Build strategic partnerships with industry stakeholders, government agencies, and community organizations to enhance workforce development, innovation, and economic growth in the semiconductor sector. Work closely with industry partners to identify hiring needs and opportunities for job creation. Connect businesses with potential funding opportunities for new semiconductor initiatives. Represent FSI in engagement with private, academic, and public sector stakeholders involved in workforce development including (but not limited to) government agencies, companies, investors, citizen groups, workforce development boards, school districts, and academic institutions (when appropriate).

     

    OTHER: Perform other duties (as assigned).

    Expected Salary:

    Commensurate with education and experience.

    Required Qualifications:

    Master's degree in an appropriate area and two years of relevant experience; or a bachelor's degree in an appropriate area and four years of relevant experience.

    Preferred:

    Six years of direct experience in workforce development, human resources, or related field.

     

    Demonstrated success in building and managing partnerships between industry, academia, and government entities.

     

    Direct experience working in the semiconductor industry.

     

    Excellent communication, negotiation, and project management skills.

     

    Proven ability to set and achieve ambitious goals in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
