    SUMMARY

    CONTRA COSTA ELECTRIC, INC. has an open position for Senior BIM/VDC Coordinator located in our Martinez, CA office. The Senior BIM/VDC Coordinator utilizes successful, progressive experience as a BIM/VDC Coordinator to play an integral role in Contra Costa Electric’s VDC team. This individual will work closely with the project management team and will be heavily involved in all modeling efforts for 2D and 3D coordination and shop drawings. Multitasks successfully in a fast-paced and sometimes high-pressure construction environment. This position may be required to oversee a team when working on large projects. May back up or act on behalf of VDC Manager, as needed.

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

    + Produce 3D Revit models for coordination and installation of electrical scope of work.

    + Participate in coordination meetings to resolve clashes while maintaining budget, constructability, and meeting project and code requirements.

    + Produce detailed shop drawings from coordinated models as required for prefabrication team and field installers to deliver successful and efficient projects.

    + Prepare RFIs to document conflicts in design related to the coordination of the project 3D models.

    + Read and interpret architectural, structural, mechanical, electrical plans, sections and elevations with a high level of competence.

    + Confer with engineer of record and project management staff to resolve problems and explain drawings to prefab or construction teams and provide adjustments as necessary.

    + Travel to various project sites as required.

    + Comply with all company operating policies, procedures, and safety programs.

    + Manage a small BIM/VDC team as the lead coordinator for large projects.

    + Back up or act on behalf of the BIM/VDC Manager, when required.

    + Perform other duties as required.

    QUALIFICATIONS

    PREFERRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

    + Minimum 5 years experience as a CA certified journeyman electrician and 5 years experience as a BIM coordinator OR

    + Minimum 10 years experience as an electrical BIM coordinator

    + Minimum of High School diploma or equivalent.

    + Advanced knowledge of all facets of construction documentation for all scopes (not limited to electrical) including: specifications, drawings, submittals, and requests for information.

    + Expert in 3D coordination with other trades.

    + Able to effectively advise other VDC team members on developing their proficiencies.

    COMPUTER SKILLS

    + Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Outlook, Word and Excel).

    + Proficient in Bluebeam Revu (preferred) and/or Adobe Acrobat.

    + Expert skill level in Autodesk Revit (including advanced skills such as family creation and template management).

    + Proficient in developing point layout for robotic total station workflows.

    + Advanced skill level in Navisworks for coordinating with other trades.

    + Advanced understanding of cloud collaboration platforms and processes such as ACC, Procore, Box, etc.

    + Working knowledge of Autodesk Docs, Autodesk Build, Revizto, and other project coordination platforms.

    REQUIRED COMPETENCIES

    + Integrity, honesty, and professionalism.

    + Strong problem solving and negotiation skills which enhance teambuilding (as opposed to alienating team members).

    + Effective communication and interaction with all levels of construction site and office personnel including: project managers, foremen, general foremen, general contractors, skilled trades, engineers, architects, subcontractors, and suppliers. On large projects, may need to effectively interact with electrical or mechanical layout/coordinators.

    + Effective coaching of junior members of BIM/VDC team to improve their technical skills and communication effectiveness.

    + Effective support of BIM/VDC manager in areas of team management, project site deliverables, and other critical aspects of the BIM/VDC department. This may include presenting information in project or departmental meetings.

    + Detail oriented, organized, and efficient individual able to complete tasks in a timely and accurate manner.

    + Must prioritize and organize work in a fast-paced multi-task environment

    + Must demonstrate commitment to EMCOR values.

    + Must be able to work effectively and independently in an office, construction trailer, or construction job site. This requires the ability to work at different locations, which may include driving between multiple work sites during the day or week. Construction site setting may require working in tunnels, roofs or catwalks.

    LANGUAGE SKILLS

    Must have the demonstrated ability to effectively communicate in English, cooperate, and collaborate with multiple levels of customers, employees, unions, government agencies, vendors and suppliers, and other contractor organizations.

    The physical demands of this position are those associated with working in a typical office environment.

     

    While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, see, talk, and hear. This role requires communicating verbally and in writing one on one, in small groups, as well as presenting to larger groups of employees. This role requires the ability to work at a computer (reading and keying) for extended periods of time. The employee must move within the office to retrieve files and meet with employees in their offices or conference room. The employee is regularly required to walk, reach with hands and arms, climb or balance and stoop, kneel, or crouch. The employee may occasionally lift and/or move up to twenty-five (25) pounds. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

     

    While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be occasionally required to travel by car (as a passenger or driver) to various job sites, and must have the ability to navigate around the job sites.
