Description
POSITION TITLE: Property Accountant FLSA Classification: Exempt
REPORTS TO: Accounting Manager
POSITION SUMMARY:
The Property Accountant will ensure the integrity of accounting information for several Residential Real Estate properties, by recording and reporting financial data and being responsible for all accounting type functions for those properties.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
• Reconciling all balance sheet accounts on a monthly basis, while providing detailed support for balances.
• Create and post standard and non-standard journal entries each month.
• Selecting invoices for payment on a weekly basis based on available cash flow.
• Posting of daily cash transactions for each assigned property.
• Reconciling accounts receivable while working closely with the Community Leaders to help maintain a current accounts receivable listing.
• Issuing monthly internal financial statements and performing in-depth reviews on those statements for accuracy and clarity of account balances.
• Completing monthly/quarterly internal and external filing reports.
• Accounting for all construction draws and related transactions, if applicable.
• Process tenant refunds upon move-out.
• Assist the Controller in a detailed review of property Audited Financial Statements.
• Work with Community Leaders in conjunction with Monthly re-forecasts of property Income Statements and help maintain a detailed summary of monthly activity for each property.
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS:
• 2-4 year accounting degree and/or 3-5 years’ experience with general ledger accounting desired.
• Strong attention to detail and a positive attitude.
• Ability to meet assigned deadlines.
• Must be proficient with Microsoft Office Excel.
• Experience with RealPage, Avid Exchange, and MRI software a plus.
Qualifications
TYPICAL PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Regularly use hands to manipulate tools, controls, phones and computer keyboard. Frequently stand, reach with hands and arms, climb, balance, and stoop. Sit and stand to do clerical work. Regularly lift and move office supplies up to 20 lbs.
TYPICAL WORK CONDITIONS: Work is performed primarily in an indoor office environment
