About you and this role- What you will do in this role
West Virginia Operations has an exciting and challenging opportunity for a Maintenance Planner with Dow’s Maintenance group in South Charleston, West Virginia. You will actively participate as a member of our shared services Maintenance Team where you will be responsible for the safe and efficient implementation of repairs, inspections, and modifications to various unit operations. You will work closely with the Operations Team and other maintenance personnel to ensure proper communication between departments resulting in continuous on-stream time and optimized cost.
Responsibilities -Duties, projects, tasks, and activities you would be responsible for in this role
+ Applies previous related experience, job-related training, or formal vocational training to ensure safe and efficient operation of assigned plant areas.
+ Plan/Print PPMs with procedures and drawings in advance of needed job.
+ Review work orders for completeness and return to Gate Keeper if incomplete.
+ Use job information and history to archive jobs for future reference.
+ Prepare job packages and input into SAP indicating required resources, materials and services.
+ Use multiple computer programs to locate and print drawings/instrument loops/piping specs.
+ Confirm delivery of necessary materials and marshal on site job locations.
+ Seek information and input from maintenance workers involved in the scope of work.
+ Become familiar and utilize business Most Effective Technology (MET) where applicable.
+ Assist coordination with field work and planning.
+ Back up for WAC/Planner(s) when on vacation or out of office.
+ Plan Turnarounds for area and conduct turnaround update meetings.
+ Work with area EHS techs to ensure safe implementation of work practices.
+ Write Safe Work Permit (SWP's) and perform lock out/tag out.
+ Participates in Root Cause Investigations.
+ Demonstrates proficient application of Life Critical Standards, Maintenance Work Processes, and leads by example in safety culture.
+ Completes all assigned training per facility training plan.
Qualifications -Required education, experience and abilities that are needed for this role (must haves)
+ A minimum of a High School diploma or GED equivalent.
+ 3 or more years work experience in a chemical manufacturing facility.
+ Willing and able to work overtime and take night and weekend call outs to meet plant needs.

+ A minimum requirement for this U.S. based position is the ability to work legally in the United States. No visa sponsorship/support is available for this position, including for any type of U.S. permanent residency (green card) process.
Preferred Qualifications:
+ An Associate's degree or higher in a Technical or Industrial field.
+ Work experience in an industrial environment troubleshooting instrument & electrical, including mechanical and installation.
+ Mechanical and/or Electrical training certifications related to industrial Maintenance.
+ Troubleshooting experience with pipe fitting, rotating equipment, control valves, flow instruments, automation, and PLCs.
Skills- Specific abilities and expertise required to perform tasks effectively in this role (must haves)
+ Maintenance Planning & Scheduling – Ability to plan preventive maintenance (PPM), prepare job packages, and coordinate turnaround activities using tools like SAP.
+ Technical Proficiency – Familiarity with mechanical, electrical, and instrumentation systems, including troubleshooting of rotating equipment, control valves, and PLCs.
+ Safety & Compliance Awareness – Strong understanding of Life Critical Standards, Safe Work Permits (SWPs), lockout/tagout procedures, and EHS practices.
+ Communication & Collaboration – Effective verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to work cross-functionally with operations, maintenance, and EHS teams.
+ Computer & Software Skills – Proficiency in Microsoft Office and the ability to navigate multiple systems to retrieve drawings, specs, and documentation.Problem Solving & Root Cause Analysis – Experience participating in root cause investigations and applying analytical thinking to resolve maintenance issues.
+ Organizational & Time Management – Ability to manage multiple priorities, maintain job archives, and ensure timely delivery of materials and resources.
