    About You and this Role

     

    Dow has exciting job opportunities for Process Technicians at one of our world-scale production units in Oyster Creek, Texas.

    Responsibilities

    + Follows Operating Discipline principles, procedures and practices to ensure safe and efficient operation of assigned plant areas.

    + Uses process knowledge and skills to create, modify and improve operating discipline procedures and practices to improve plant performance.

    + Operates and field checks process equipment. Monitors process conditions, equipment, and control systems.

    + Performs tasks assigned to operations per Master Task List (e.g. field checks, equipment preparation, samples, etc.).

    + Ensures operational activities and process performance are aligned with plant and business goals.

    + Uses process knowledge and skills to coach and train others on plant operations.

    + Actively participates on plant teams, and in other plant improvement projects.

    + Performs process equipment troubleshooting, minor repairs, improvements and preventive maintenance utilizing the appropriate work processes and disciplines.

    + With the appropriate knowledge, skills and qualifications, candidates will be expected to perform any task that is needed to support the operation or maintenance of a chemical plant.

    Requirements

    + A minimum of an Associate Degree in a relevant field OR a High School Diploma/GED and 3+ years of military experience OR High School Diploma/GED and 5+ years of relevant experience.

    + Must be able to work rotating shifts and overtime as needed.

    + Proficiency in Microsoft applications, such as Word and Excel, and the ability to learn new systems quickly.

    + Must have a current, valid US driver’s license.

    + Must be able to learn to perform preventative maintenance and be able to make preliminary diagnoses, i.e. issues with pumps, motors, valves, etc.

    + A minimum requirement for this U.S. based position is the ability to work legally in the United States. No visa sponsorship/support is available for this position, including for any type of U.S. permanent residency (green card) process.

    Preferred Requirements

    + An Associate Degree in Process Technology, Industrial Engineering, Instrumentation and/or Electrical, or Computer Technology is preferred.

    + Chemical manufacturing experience as a Production Technician.

    + Mechanical aptitude with troubleshooting, maintenance, diagnosing and repairing experience.

    + Prior experience working in an outside environment.

    + Proficiency in reading trends and graphs of real-time data.

    + Understanding of computer code.

     

    Your Skills

     

    + System Procedures- Ability to operate and field-check process equipment, monitor process conditions, and ensure safe and efficient plant operations.

    + Troubleshooting-Skill in diagnosing and performing minor repairs on equipment such as pumps, motors, and valves, as well as conducting preventive maintenance.

    + Mechanical Principals- Capacity to learn complex chemical manufacturing processes, analyze technical problems, and contribute to process improvements.

    + Communication- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to coach others, participate in team projects, and align with plant goals.

    + Detail Oriented- High personal initiative with strong time management and multitasking qualities to ensure safety and performance standards are met.

     

    Additional Notes

     

    + This position does not offer relocation assistance.

    Physical Requirements

    + Wear safety equipment, such as earplugs, goggles, and steel-toed shoes.

    + Perform frequent bending, reaching, and lifting.

    + Work in tight or closed-in spaces.

    + Climb stairs/ladders and work high off the ground.

    + Stand or walk for extended periods of time.

    + Lift a minimum of 50 lbs.

    + This role does involve elevated work greater than or equal to four feet above the ground. Must be able to wear and use personal protective equipment (PPE), including harnesses with a total weight capacity of 300lbs.
