    About you and this role:

    This role is responsible for daily EH&S activities and performance for large construction projects, with emphasis on Greenfield/Brownfield project applications. Area of responsibility includes all of North America, with most projects occurring on the USGC in Texas and Louisiana. The Large Project EH&S Technologist Lead will report to the North America Construction Director within the Central Engineering team.

     

    This role also shares responsibility for the implementation of the EH&S management system, to meet business objectives and to maintain the license to operate. Provides hands-on environmental, industrial hygiene (IH), and health and safety (H&S) activities for large construction projects. Requires advanced skills and expertise in a range of processes, procedures, and systems, and/or specialized technical expertise within an analytical/scientific method or operational process to perform a broad range of complex work assignments. May act as a working team lead, providing subject matter guidance and coordinating work of others.

    Responsibilities/Duties:

    + Acts as the focal point for project EH&S disciplines (i.e. Environmental, IH, Personal Safety, Process Safety etc.)

    + Audit contractor performance against the program expectations and provide opportunity feedback to contractors.

    + Coordinate and optimize EHS&S programs across active projects.

    + Participate and lead incident investigations and corrective action process.

    + Initiates and supports MOC for EHS&S changes as necessary.

    + Identify opportunities to streamline EHS&S resources and work processes.

    + Trends EH&S reporting information (i.e. Safety Observations, BBP, Near Miss).

    + Coach and train contractor employees as necessary to meet the expectations of the Construction EHS&S program.

    + Perform Safety Audits on location for large Construction projects in progress.

    + Focal Point for coordinating with site EHS&S to meet local requirements.

    + Assess EHS&S Staffing for Large Construction projects.

    + Administrator for the GF/BF EHS&S SharePoint content and ensure use by our contractors.

    + Determine Greenfield & Brownfield applicability and lead implementation of the GF/BF Large Project EHS&S Management System.

    + Partners with EHS&S Managers for Large Project Support in their respective regions.

    Required Qualifications:

    + A minimum of a high school diploma/GED.

    + A minimum of 5 years of EH&S experience.

    + Travel Requirements: Occasional significant domestic travel and infrequent international travel to support large construction projects.

    + A minimum requirement for this U.S. based position is the ability to work legally in the United States. No visa sponsorship/support is available for this position, including for any type of U.S. permanent residency (green card) process.

    Preferred Qualifications:

    + A minimum of 10 years of relevant experience.

    + Experience working as a safety representative for Dow EH&S support on the USGC for projects greater than $150MM.

    + Experience working with the EZ Path Tool for safety observations.

    + NCCER – Certified Site Safety Technician.

    Able to meet the following physical demands of the job, with or without reasonable accommodations:

    + Work at heights, climbs stairs and ladders.

    + Wear all required personal protective equipment, such as earplugs, goggles, and steel-toed shoes.

    + Work in an area of intense or continuous noise.

    + Work in an area with hazardous materials.

    + Perform frequent bending, reaching, and lifting.

    + Stand or walk for extended periods of time.

    + This role does involve elevated work greater than or equal to four feet above the ground.

    + Must be able to wear and use personal protective equipment (PPE), including harnesses with a total weight capacity of 300lbs.
