CTG's long-standing Fortune 500 client of over 15 years has a W2 contract assignment for a Controls Engineer III.

**Pay Rate:** Based on experience
**Work Hours:** M–F, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM
**Education:** BSEE / BSCS / BSME / BSMET or related field
Description:
The Controls Engineer III will develop and support industrial automation and process control systems for manufacturing operations. The position focuses on programming Allen Bradley PLCs, designing electrical control systems, and managing engineering scope for process improvement and capital projects. You will also mentor junior engineers and interface with external vendors to ensure successful system integration and deployment.
Key Responsibilities:
• Create and modify Allen Bradley PLC programs for fiber optic cable production operations
• Design and implement new control system projects
• Mentor and train junior controls engineers
• Manage controls engineering scope for process improvement, capital expansion, and obsolescence mitigation projects
• Implement robust, cost-effective automation and process machine control systems
• Interface with external system integrators to deliver integrated process equipment systems
• Participate in all project phases including design, fabrication, testing, installation, and training
• Independently oversee construction of equipment at vendor facilities
Requirements:
Education:
• BSEE / BSCS / BSME / BSMET with 4+ years of manufacturing experience in automation and process control
• Other engineering disciplines will be considered with relevant experience
Required Qualifications:
• Proficient in Allen Bradley ControlLogix v20 or higher, including ladder logic, structured text, and function block diagram programming
• Skilled in AutoCAD Electrical 2023 to generate and interpret electrical drawings, control panel layouts, and schematics
• Strong troubleshooting skills and understanding of process control systems
• Experience programming HMI / SCADA systems in a plant environment
• Understanding of VFDs, servo systems, motion control, and industrial communication protocols
• Familiar with safety procedures and codes (NEC, NFPA), including Lock-Out Tag-Out protocols
• Able to work independently and in a team, following projects through to completion
• Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills
Desired Qualifications:
• Experience with extrusion and cable winding
• Entrepreneurial and visionary approach to control systems design
• Familiarity with legacy controls, OSI PI historian, and iFix 5.9 or higher
• Beckhoff PLC experience
