    Lead Baker Technologist - Princeton, NJ

    We are hiring! Looking for a Lead Bakery Technologist to support dsm-firmenich project initiatives for Flavor applications and Ingredient solutions. In this role you will be responsible for leading customer and Product development baking initiatives for large regional clients. Requires hands on applications, good project management and presentation skill. If you have passion for the Art and science of baking, this position could be a “sweet” position for you!

    Your Key Responsibilities:

    + Lead customer and PD baking initiatives for clients

    + Hands on Bakery product design and application

    + Prototype development (complete formulation development); comprehensive understanding of bakery science, dough rheology and product formulation

    + Knowledge of ingredients, functionality/interactions in bars, chemically and yeast leavened bakery formulations (Breads, cookies, muffins, tortilla, crackers, bars, low and intermediate moisture baked goods). Design of experiments (DOE), analytical techniques

    + Directly supports customers on specific bakery initiatives- Bench top to final scale-up. Adjusting/adapting formulations, providing insights on ingredient sourcing and nutritional recommendations

    + Complete Portfolio management of dsm-firmenich flavor & ingredient technologies. Comprehensive understanding of performance in applications and interactions with bakery matrices

    + Highly proficient/experienced (hands on) benchtop capability, navigate pilot plant and industrial product manufacture

    + In depth understanding of ingredient interactions (dough rheology, texture analysis, sensory descriptors etc…)

    + Collaborate effectively, leverage internal resources to meet objectives: Technical, business development, sensory, marketing, creation and analytical services

    + Document, report and present project results to internal support teams and external customers

    + Lead working sessions with customers

    + Proficient in the use of Nutritional labeling software

    + Stays informed on technology landscape (IP, market trends, new processing technologies, etc.)

    + Identifies new, emerging ingredients and works with internal and external network to source

    + Works with external collaborators such as academic institutions and business partners to accelerate product development process

    You Bring:

    + B.S Food Science/Bakery Science/Culinary Arts/related science fields

    + 5+ years relevant experience in the baking/flavor/ingredient industry

    + Track record of hands-on bakery product development

    + Must have strong presentation and communication skills

    + Must be Collaborative, works well in team environment

    + Organized, strong project management skill

    + Open to travel (Up to 30%)

    + Fluent proficiency in English, both written and spoken, is required

     

    The salary or hourly wage scale provided reflects the pay range dsm-firmenich expects to pay the successful candidate for the position. Individual pay offered will be based on the applicant’s job-related skills, experience, relevant education, or training, and primary work location. This position is also eligible for bonuses and benefits, which are not included in the pay scale provided. Salary $97,000-$106,000.

     

    In addition to base salary, we also offer a comprehensive total rewards package, inclusive of annual incentive pay, a retirement savings plan, health care coverage, paid time off, recognition programs and a broad range of other benefits. All benefits and incentives are subject to eligibility requirements.
