Some of what you'll be doing:
As Capital Project Manager V for the Waterfront Project Management Group, you will be a technical expert on projects that are complex, highly visible, or politically sensitive.
+ You will lead, manage, and coordinate the project delivery for major capital projects in support of container cargo operations in the Seattle harbor for the NWSA, stormwater utility, and joint ventures.
+ You will develop presentations to inform Senior Managers, Directors, Managing Directors, Investment Committees, Executive Directors, and Commissions at each state of approval and subsequent status reports. Presentations at Commission and Managing Member meetings are live recorded public speaking events.
+ You will monitor subcontractor outreach and pre-qualification and any trade bidding that might take place prior to setting Guaranteed Maximum Price (GMP) or Maximum Allowable Construction Cost (MACC).
+ You will monitor the evolution of design to ensure the target budget is not exceeded and assist contractors in coordinating with the Port and State of WA, or other outside agencies, regarding permits, inspections, testing, and Certificates of Occupancy.
+ You will coordinate, track required compliance and reporting as required on projects partially or fully funded by local, state or federal grants.
+ You will perform supervisory responsibilities including planning, scheduling, assigning work, reviewing work products, hiring, evaluating performance and determining and administering discipline.
+ You will develop, negotiate and manage complex consultant contracts, budgets, schedules and phasing for design and construction and represent the Port in negotiations with local, federal and state agencies, customers, tenants, or affected communities.
+ You will perform appropriate risk analysis and develop contingency plans for unexpected problems that can have a significant impact on assigned projects.
+ You will manage highly complex funding and permitting issues related to assigned projects, including developing permitting strategies.
Who you are:
+ **Experienced** – You have eight (8) years of construction project management experience, to include three (3) years of supervisory/lead/mentor experience including leading a project or process.
+ **Desired** – We hope you have a bachelor’s degree in construction management, architecture, engineering, business administration or environmental science. We hope you are certified as a Project Management Professional (PMP), Professional Engineer (PE), Registered Architect (RA) or Certified Construction Manager (CCM).

+ **Knowledgeable** – You have a working knowledge of available alternative project delivery methods such as: Design-Build; progressive Design-Build; General Contractor/Construction Manager (GC/CM) or Construction Manager at-risk (CM at-risk). You have knowledge of leadership and supervisory principles and practices and of federal, state and local regulatory agencies and related regulations, guidelines and procedures.
+ **Leader** – You possess effective leadership skills including mentoring and coaching and possess skills to serve as an expert advisor in a unique area. You are skilled in planning, organizing, reviewing and evaluating the work of other project managers and also have in-depth knowledge of management concepts and demonstrated ability to apply those concepts to coordinate, lead and manage multi-discipline engineering and construction staff both in-house and consultants.
+ **Project/Program Management** – You are knowledgeable and skilled in project/program management concepts, and you have demonstrated experience applying those concepts to complex projects.
+ **Efficient Communication** – You have excellent communication skills that you can adapt quickly to a multitude of interpersonal situations.
+ **Relationship Builder** – You have well-developed conflict resolution and facilitation skills including working effectively with people at all levels of the organization and elected officials.
What else you need to know:
+ **Work Schedule** – Your normal work schedule will be Monday – Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. (40 hours per week). Slightly more flexible start and end times are available in this role. You may be required to work during emergencies.
+ **Work Environment** - This work will take place in a hybrid/in-office setting at Management’s discretion.
+ **Washington State Residency Requirement** – Employees must establish a residence in Washington state within 30 days of their first day of employment and must maintain a residence in Washington State during their employment with the Port of Seattle. If a position is eligible to telework, work performed while teleworking must be performed in Washington State.
+ **Security Requirements** – As the successful candidate, you must obtain a Transportation Worker Identification Card (TWIC) within the first three months of employment.
