    We are seeking applicants for a Power/Recovery Superintendent in our International Falls, MN Paper Mill.

     

    The International Falls facility is a White Paper Mill owned by Packaging Corporation of America.

     

    Function & Scope

     

    This position is responsible for the Power and Recovery operations. This includes the recovery boiler, evaporators, kiln/recaust, power boilers, turbine and hydro electrical generation, and secondary sludge drying and incineration. The position is responsible for the overall performance of the operation in terms of safety environmental, quality, costs, production, and staffing.

     

    Duties & Responsibilities

     

    + Safety – Management of all safety policies within the department which include the adherence to and enforcement of mill safety rules, procedures, personal protective equipment and OSHA compliance. The additional responsibilities are conformance to BLRBAC standards for recovery boiler and participation in Boise recovery boiler audits. Individual is responsible for creating a safe work environment for their employees.

    + Housekeeping - Develop and set standards and expectations around housekeeping in the department. It is their responsibility to monitor, follow-up and report performance.

    + Environmental – Develop and set expectations around environmental compliance of the operation. Develop plans for targets and objectives identified in the department for continuous improvement efforts.

    + Quality – Set expectations for quality standards and provide necessary resources to maintain stable and capable quality performance.

    + Productivity – Monitor production performance daily. Make system changes to meet needs of customers and financial results. Plan and schedule resources for department needs. Follow-up on all equipment and resource issues. Manage development and training needs for department personnel.

    + Energy Management – Provides leadership and input to energy contracts. Manages boiler and turbine operations to ensure reliability of supply at optimal costs.

    + Budget – Develop and control operating budget and expenses for the department. Approve all department requisitions and purchases.

    + Planning – Develop long range planning and development for system/process improvement. Interface with Capital Engineering Superintendent to develop capital plans for the department. Interface with Maintenance Superintendent with modification planning and area infrastructure concerns. Research new products and technology. Develop plans to serve customers in an effective manner.

    + Communication – Improve communications within the department and between departments. Develop and communicate common goals for the department and communicate problems and action plans developed to correct problems. Ensure notifications protocol is followed for issues.

    + Administrative – Manage staff effectiveness and recognition through the Performance Planning Process. Develop employees through IDP planning, hold employees accountable and where necessary use performance plans to enhance poor performance.

    Minimum Qualifications

    BS degree in engineering, pulp and paper science, or equivalent experience with demonstrated management and leadership abilities

     

    Must be eligible to work in the U.S.
