    Job Summary

    To perform a wide variety of photographic and other functions pertaining to the needs of the institution. The Domino Farms Plastic Surgery clinic is seeking a medical photographer for the purposes of patient care and education.

     

    This role is also responsible for producing accurate and objective images that document patients' appearance, injuries, and medical conditions, both before and after surgical and non-surgical interventions. This work can be both technically and emotionally engaging, with images used for measurement and analysis, surgical interventions, insurance authorizations, educational conferences, as well as to accompany medical or scientific reports, articles or research papers. Since plastic surgeons operate on all parts of the body, there is a significant range and variety of photos that may be required for each patient.

    Responsibilities*

    + Performs wide variety of photographic functions pertaining to needs of institution. This includes but is not limited to photographing patients, operating room procedures, public relations assignments, various medically related material for slide presentations and publications.

    + Maintain photographic standards of various specialties when photographing patients.

    + Determine most efficient, cost-effective, and technically correct method for photographing chosen subject.

    + Operate 3D camera and other photography equipment.

    + Uploads and manages patient photographs within a database to demonstrate physical changes of patients over time.

    + Maintain and manage photo database software including upgrades and troubleshoot issues.

    + Maintain clinic process for obtaining patient photo consent.

    + Train back-up photographer support and maintain regular refresher training for back up.

    + Ensure proper coverage plans for time away and ensure those plans are communicated effectively.

    + Demonstrate willingness to resolve customer complaints.

    + Respond to photo requests from faculty, staff and patients in a timely manner.

    + Communicate with patients, their families, providers and other clinic staff about the needs of patients and providers daily.

    + Answer phone calls promptly and professionally.

    + Operate as necessary in MiChart in order to view pertinent information related to patients.

    + Order supplies for photographic equipment.

    + Other duties as assigned by manager.

    Required Qualifications*

    + High School Diploma or GED.

    + Professional training/experience as a photographer, including experience in scientific, process, medical, industry, or other photography.

    + Working knowledge of computer imaging software including Adobe Suite (Lightroom).

    + Strong ability to function independently and self-motivate.

    + Thorough understanding of Microsoft Office programs including PowerPoint, Word and Excel.

    + Must adhere to strict confidential guidelines and maintain a high degree of professionalism during stressful situations.

    + Exceptional customer service skills.

    + Exceptional communication skills are both oral and written.

    + Demonstrated ability to manage several tasks independently with strong attention to detail.

    + Ability to solve problems and perform effectively in a fast-paced medical setting.

    + Ability to work collaboratively within a team setting.

    Desired Qualifications*

    + Knowledge of university systems including MiChart (EPIC), Outlook, Payroll and Lean practices.

    + Associate Degree in Photography, medical photography or equivalent experience as a professional photographer.

    + Experience in a clinical or patient care environment.

    + Working knowledge and experience with FileMaker Pro or other database applications.

    + Familiarity with University of Michigan's Mission and Values.

    Background Screening

     

    Michigan Medicine conducts background screening and pre-employment drug testing on job candidates upon acceptance of a contingent job offer and may use a third party administrator to conduct background screenings.
