The primary purpose of this position is to provide support, and to complement, the head coach in day to day program operations. This is a two-year, 6-month per year position funded in part through the NCAA Division III Coaching Enhancement Grant, awarded to institutions that are committed to enhancing underrepresented groups in intercollegiate athletics.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
• Collaborate with head coach on the development of practices
• Educate and instruct student-athletes in the training of their sport
• In-game coaching, real-time problem solving, tactical adjustments
• Analyze video and use as a tool to educate student-athletes
• Facilitate prospect identification camps
• Collaborate with head coach to scout opponents and provide analysis to student athletes
• Instruct student athletes about physical health, teamwork and safety
• Ensure compliance by team members with the Code of Conduct governing student athletes (includes activities when traveling as representatives of the University)
• Attend recruiting events to identify talent
• Organize and facilitate on-campus visits with recruits and family members
• Actively update FrontRush (recruiting database)
• Know and comply with all applicable NCAA and MIAC rules and regulations
• Work cooperatively with departmental personnel, attend staff meetings and activities, and represent the University positively when interacting with the community, alumni, media, and general public
• Set an appropriate leadership example in all professional and personal activities
• Create and share social media content
• Complete required travel reimbursement requests and follow appropriate protocols
• Collaborate with head coach on maintaining accurate inventory of team uniforms and equipment
• All other duties as assigned
REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS
This position reports to the: Head Coach
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES AND KEY COMPETENCIES
• Knowledge of all applicable NCAA rules
• Experience and sensitivity working with students from diverse backgrounds
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE
• Bachelor’s Degree
• 1+ years of previous experience coaching or competitive college play as an athlete
• Knowledge of NCAA and conference rules
PREFERRED EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE
• Master’s Degree
REQUIRED LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION/REGISTRATION
• CPR/AED/First Aid certification (can obtain after hired)
WORKING CONDITIONS / EQUIPMENT
Must perform the following essential functions with or without a reasonable accommodation:
• Requires the ability to work evenings and weekends for sport and departmental activities
• Must be able to work on a computer for extended periods of time
• Ability to lift at least 25 lbs. on an occasional basis
• Requires the ability to travel off campus during the season (locations dependent upon schedule) and for recruiting trips
Compensation and Benefits:
**Pay Range:** $13,000 - $15,000 annually
• This is a grant supported, full-time, temporary, non-exempt position for 6 months a year (September – February)
• $1,500 Professional Development Stipend
