The primary purpose of this position is to provide day-to-day administrative leadership and support within the athletic department including student athlete development, business operations, compliance assistant, and sports information assistant. This is a two-year, 10-month per year internship funded by the NCAA Division III Pathway to Excellence Grant, awarded to institutions that are committed to enhancing underrepresented groups in intercollegiate athletics.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
_40% Leadership Development_
• Organize and facilitate leadership training programs for student-athletes and department staff fostering skills that promote a positive and effective culture and environment.
• Re-establish Pipers C.A.R.E. ( C - courage to stand; A - awareness of resources; R - responsible to act; E - excellence on and off the field) organization; serve as co-advisor with head athletic trainer. Purpose is to support well rounded student athletes through well-being, academic success, and personal development.
• Explore possibility of student-athletes training as Peer Educators on campus.
_45% Operations_
• Assist Compliance Coordinator with NCAA and MIAC/WIAC compliance.
• Collaborate with Sport Information Director in managing game day operations: manage and coordinate live streaming for all home events, ensuring effective execution of webcasts.
• May act as the Game Day site manager for select athletic events insuring logistics and game day needs are met including awareness of emergency protocol.
_15% Administrative Duties_
• Assist Event Management staff with student staffing for optimal coverage of home athletic competitions.
• Assist coaches with data entry into FrontRush ensuring accuracy and timeliness of information and compliance.
• Prepare, review, and maintain records of non-conference home game contracts to ensure compliance with NCAA regulations.
• Collaborate with coaches to enhance leadership training.
• Collaborate with coaches to develop strategies which will enhance recruitment and retention while fostering and creating a unified environment.
• All other duties as assigned.
REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS
This position reports to the: Assistant Vice President and Athletic Director
This position may supervise student workers
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES AND KEY COMPETENCIES
• Knowledge of all applicable NCAA rules
• Experience and sensitivity working with students from diverse backgrounds
MINIMUM EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE
• Bachelor’s Degree
PREFERRED EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE
• Experience working or interning in a collegiate athletic department
• Knowledge of collegiate athletics administration including game management and sport information
WORKING CONDITIONS / EQUIPMENT
Must perform the following essential functions with or without a reasonable accommodation:
• Requires the ability to work evenings and weekends for sport and departmental activities
• Must be able to work on a computer for extended periods of time
• Ability to lift at least 25 lbs. on an occasional basis
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
• This is a grant funded, full-time, temporary, exempt internship (10 months/year: August – May)

COMPENSATION and BENEFITS
Pay Range: $30,000 annually
$3,000 Professional Development Stipend
