    Job Description

    Data Science and Analytics is an ambitious team of Data Scientists and Data Engineers with a unique blend of Business, Scientific, and Machine Learning expertise that seeks to unleash the full potential of AbbVie’s data assets by bringing technology and/or data and insights to the forefront of decision making via fit-for-purpose solutions.

     

    The Associate Director, Medical Monitoring Analytics is a leadership role and is responsible for strategy, talent management and operations delivery. Identifies new capabilities and opportunities to drive analytics innovation and value creation for clinical trial medical monitoring to scale. Fosters a culture of experimentation to enable data-driven insights for complex business problems. Influences cross-functional leaders to unleash the full potential of data and advanced analytics techniques like Machine Learning and Artificial Intelligence.

    Roles and Responsibilities:

    + Responsible for people management including managing line-level people managers

    + Drive the implementation of next generation technology and process to enable enterprise data analytics on pace with emerging integrated data sources (biomarker/translational, big data, digital sources, real world data, pharmacovigilance data, clinical trial data)

    + Responsible for coaching, mentoring and performance management of direct reports. Responsible for talent development in alignment with R&D business needs

    + Identifies new capabilities and opportunities to drive analytics innovation and value creation. Forms cross-functional teams to implement new capabilities

    + Influences the cross-functional stakeholders at Director level to identify opportunities to unleash the full-potential of data and analytics, including advanced ML techniques and Artificial Intelligence.

    + Represents the functional area at critical governance, quality and compliance, and regulatory meetings

    + Ensures consistent analytics support through effective resource management, prioritization, and timeline management.

    + Fosters innovation and entrepreneurial culture within the team that attracts and retains top talent; Creates an environment of continuous learning

    + Ensures adherence to federal regulations and applicable local regulations, Good Clinical Practices (GCPs), ICH Guidelines, AbbVie Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), and to functional quality standards. Stays abreast of new and/or evolving local regulations, guidelines and policies related to clinical development

    Qualifications

    *This position will be required to sit on-site 3 days / week*

    + Bachelor’s degree statistics, analytics, bioinformatics, data science or equivalent field. Master’s degree preferred

    + Must have 6-8+ years of experience with enabling novel analytics capabilities across business areas with 3-4 years of experience leading a team or cross functional initiatives

    + Intermediate-level proficiency in R, Python or other statistical packages. Intermediate-level knowledge of statistical and data mining techniques

    + Intermediate proficiency with visualization tools like Spotfire, Tableau or equivalent

    + Demonstrated project management skills

    + Experience with Machine Learning and other advanced analytics techniques preferred

    + Demonstrated effective communication skills. Demonstrated ability to communicate analytical and technical concepts in layman’s terms

    + Demonstrated problem-solving and analytical skills

    + Demonstrated history of successful execution in a fast-paced environment and in managing multiple priorities effectively

    + Demonstrated ability to influence cross-functional leaders at Director level

    + Demonstrated expertise in clinical trial conduct and trial execution. Ability to apply domain knowledge to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify and prioritize impactful analytics solutions is strongly preferred

    + Good understanding of clinical development functional areas and related processes is preferred

    + Proven track-record with leading complex cross-functional initiatives

    + The compensation range described below is the range of possible base pay compensation that the Company believes in good faith it will pay for this role at the time of this posting based on the job grade for this position. Individual compensation paid within this range will depend on many factors including geographic location, and we may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range. This range may be modified in the future.​ Salary: $137,500 - $261,000

    + We offer a comprehensive package of benefits including paid time off (vacation, holidays, sick), medical/dental/vision insurance and 401(k) to eligible employees.​

    + This job is eligible to participate in our short-term incentive programs. ​

    + This job is eligible to participate in our long-term incentive programs​
