This role in summary
Whirlpool in Amana, Iowa is looking for an Automation Specialist to install and repair all plant electrical equipment.

1st Shift - Monday-Friday - 7am-3:30pm
9 Holidays + 3 floating holidays

Your responsibilities will include
1. Assist engineers with automation projects.
2. Provide training and guidance to maintenance trainees.
3. Provide advanced troubleshooting support to the maintenance team.
4. Lead equipment upgrade projects.
5. Install conduit complete with making of brackets, hangers and conduit incidental to perform their job.
6. Order necessary repair parts as required.
7. Clean and lubricate equipment, replace light bulbs, sets time clocks incidental to their job.
8. Report any electrical problem they find to their supervisor.
9. Ability to work with minimal supervision.
10. Paint control panel, also any electrical component that paint is used for insulation.
11. Climb and work from ladders and high lifts.
12. Must be familiar with main power distribution.
13. Ability to work with Hazardous chemicals.
14. Comply with proper PPE and 5S Guidelines.
15. Comply with Lock Out/Tag Out Guidelines.
Minimum requirements
High school diploma or equivalent.
Able to pass a drug screen and background check.
Preferred skills and experiences
1. Capability and knowledge of plant electrical work and working knowledge of plant welders, machines, tools, test equipment and instruments.
2. Interpret electronic and electrical prints and make up new circuit design changes.
3. Capability to install, remove, trouble shoot and repair plant equipment having electrical and electronic controls, motors, meter, telephones layout and make up control panels and boxes.
4. Capability and knowledge of hydraulic, pneumatic and mechanical repair.
5. Ability to understand machinery from a systems perspective.
6. Understand relationships between control programs, electrical, hydraulic and mechanical systems
7. Demonstrate advanced computer skills
8. Be able to write PLC programs
9. Be able to analyze existing PLC programs and make edits
10. Be able to design and build machine control panels
11. Understand and troubleshoot main power distribution systems
