Job Summary:
Grandview Medical Center is seeking a compassionate and skilled International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC) to join our multidisciplinary team. The Lactation Consultant will provide expert breastfeeding support and education to mothers and families in the hospital setting, ensuring positive breastfeeding outcomes and promoting infant and maternal health.
Key Responsibilities:
+ Provide individualized lactation consultations to postpartum mothers and families to support successful breastfeeding initiation and continuation.
+ Assess breastfeeding techniques, address common challenges such as latch difficulties, low milk supply, and nipple pain.
+ Collaborate with obstetricians, pediatricians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to develop and implement breastfeeding care plans.
+ Educate patients and families on the benefits of breastfeeding, proper infant nutrition, and breast milk expression and storage.
+ Facilitate breastfeeding support groups and community outreach programs as needed.
+ Maintain accurate and timely documentation of consultations, care plans, and progress notes in accordance with hospital policies.
+ Stay current with breastfeeding research, guidelines, and best practices to provide evidence-based care.
+ Assist with staff training and education on breastfeeding support and policies.
+ Teach breastfeeding prenatal classes for patients and their support.
+ Promote and support hospital initiatives related to breastfeeding practices and maternal-child health.
Qualifications:
+ Current International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC) credential required.
+ Minimum of 2 years of experience providing lactation support, preferably in a hospital or clinical setting.
+ Registered Nurse (RN) preferred
+ Strong knowledge of lactation physiology, breastfeeding techniques, and infant nutrition.
+ Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to educate and empower diverse populations.
+ Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary healthcare team.
+ Commitment to compassionate, patient-centered care.
+ Flexibility to work varied shifts including weekends and holidays as required.
