Job Description
The Department of Social Services (DSS) is comprised of the administrative units of the New York City Human Resources Administration (HRA) and the Department of Homeless Services (DHS). HRA is dedicated to fighting poverty and income inequality by providing New Yorkers in need with essential benefits such as Food Assistance and Emergency Rental Assistance. DHS is committed to preventing and addressing homelessness in New York City by employing a variety of innovative strategies to help families and individuals successfully exit shelter and return to self-sufficiency as quickly as possible.
Information Technology Services (ITS) is DSS’s technology services organization. ITS mission is to support the daily, emergent, and long-term needs of both agencies. ITS creates and enhances the technology infrastructure and computer applications that support HRA and DHS and develops applications, including a variety of client eligibility and recertification systems, case management systems, housing systems, employment/work engagement services, revenue producing computer matches, claiming systems, and personnel systems.
Information Technology Services (ITS)/Office of Enterprise Networking Technology/UNIX Infrastructure is seeking a highly experienced IT Project Specialist, who will function as a FileNet P8 Imaging Engineer to support and maintain IBM FileNet Imaging Service, P8, WebSphere, and Content Manager across AIX, Solaris, and Linux environments. This role requires a deep understanding of enterprise-scale FileNet solutions, infrastructure administration, and cloud-based modernization initiatives. The ideal candidate will have an extensive background in FileNet and P8 administration, enterprise database management (DB2, Oracle, Informix), and modern containerized environments (Kubernetes, OpenShift). This position offers the opportunity to work on complex systems that require a seasoned professional with a proven track record in large-scale deployments, troubleshooting, and optimization.
The candidate will be responsible for:
- Overseeing and managing FileNet Imaging Service, P8, WebSphere, and Content Manager
in UNIX/Linux (AIX, Solaris, Linux) environments.
- Leading daily FileNet and P8 application administration, responding to user requests through
ServiceNow and coordinating issue resolution.
- Monitoring, maintaining, and optimizing the performance of large-scale enterprise IMAGING
applications across hybrid on-premises and cloud infrastructures (AWS, Azure, Kubernetes,
OpenShift).
- Troubleshooting FileNet and P8 connection issues, database errors, security configurations,
and application performance concerns.
- Performing installation, configuration, upgrades, and migrations of FileNet solutions in UNIX/
Linux, cloud, and containerized environments.
- Managing and maintaining DB2, Oracle, and Informix databases, including backup, recovery,
and performance tuning.
- Participating in strategic planning, evaluation, and implementation of modernized infrastructure
solutions to enhance system scalability and resilience.
- Leveraging monitoring tools such as AppDynamics and Splunk to proactively identify and resolve
performance issues.

Qualifications
1. A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college in computer science, engineering, human computer interaction, interactive media, digital and graphics design, data visualization, communication or a related field, and four years of satisfactory full-time experience related to the area(s) required by the particular position and a specialization in a relevant technology, process, methodology and/or domain; or
2. An associate degree from an accredited college in computer science, engineering, human computer interaction, interactive media, digital and graphics design, data visualization, communication or a related field, and six years of satisfactory full-time experience related to the area(s) required by the particular position and a specialization in a relevant technology, process, methodology and/or domain; or
3. A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college, and eight years of satisfactory full-time experience related to the area(s) required by the particular position and a specialization in a relevant technology, process, methodology and/or domain; or
4. Education and/or experience which is equivalent to "1", "2", or "3" above.

Salary Min: $ 75,000.00
Salary Max: $135,000.00
