Collins Aerospace is seeking an experienced Associate Director of Carbon Engineering (AD-CE). This position reports directly to the Director of Carbon Engineering in Pueblo, CO. This role will be responsible for overseeing the Program Engineering teams in Pueblo, CO; Spokane, WA; and Santa Fe Springs, CA. The three sites are referred to as Associate Manufacturing Facilities (AMF) as part of Troy, OH Landing Systems. The AD-CE and staff provide timely and effective engineering support for production programs at all three AMF sites while liaising with Carbon Engineering, AMF Operational and Quality teams, Collins research Centers, Troy Engineering Teams, Troy Value Stream Teams and pertinent suppliers.
The AD-CE and staff own the responsibility to manage and/or oversee all technical activities related to carbon brake production product integrity, brake refurbishment programs, product/process investigations, ECNs, MRB support, developing and implementing 3-site standard work, providing day-to-day manufacturing support, qualifying New Product Introduction (NPI) programs and the qualification of new raw material, process-product changes and equipment prior to production implementation. The AD-CE and direct reports plan, organize, direct and control all departmental operations and personnel while meeting safety, product integrity, quality, on-time delivery, export, financial, and continuous improvement goals.
This position is a planned predecessor to the Director of Carbon Engineering role.
This position can work onsite in either Pueblo, CO (preferred) or onsite in Spokane, WA. Relocation assistance is provided.
Primary Responsibilities:
+ Leads and directs three AMF Program Engineering Senior Managers that report to this position and their respective teams.
+ Responsible for ensuring product health & integrity by managing the production specification and approval processes for legacy programs, new technology and NPI qualifications from raw material to end of life.
+ Responsible for maintaining proactive process and product oversight to ensure that planned or unplanned process shifts do not negatively impact product performance or acceptance.
+ Responsible for overseeing and conducting process-performance health updates, data mining, statistical analysis and product/process investigations.
+ Supports and drives Engineering, SCM, Quality and Operational initiatives.
+ Maintains a high level of compliance expectations (product integrity, export, ethics, EH&S, etc.).
+ Maintains a high level of OTD focus, drive for results and self-accountability, while maintaining a people-centric culture.
+ Requires strong administrative, project management, organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills.
+ Plays a key role in Program Engineering tactical and strategic planning.
+ Responsible for Program Engineering RTX CORE activities.
+ Requires the ability to deal with high levels of complex, technical ambiguity associated with tribological applications and the fortitude to forge new paths of fundamental understanding.
+ Responsible for developing standard work and automating analytical capabilities where possible.
+ Responsible for 3-site department budgets and administration.
+ Actively attracts key talent, develops employees, prepares leadership and fellows successors.
+ Partners with Carbon R&D and Collins Global Engineering Centers to leverage resources and knowledge to support Program Engineering technology needs.
+ Travel: ~10%; predominantly domestic travel.
Basic Qualifications:
+ Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and minimum 12 years prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 10 years of experience
+ U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are authorized to access information under this program/contract
+ A minimum of five (5) years of Engineering departmental supervision.
+ Experience conducting product and process investigations, including Root Cause and Corrective Action (RCCA), with a focus on materials or manufacturing processes.
+ Experience managing and executing a portfolio of projects of varying scope and complexity.
+ Experience in product integrity management and qualification activities within a regulated industry
+ Experience in composites, chemical processes or materials science.
Preferred Qualifications:
+ Advanced degree, preferably in Chemical, Ceramics, Composites, Materials or Mechanical Engineering with at least ten (10) years of relevant experience.
+ MBA.
+ Multi-site, multi-department managerial responsibilities.
+ Extensive aerospace Industry experience.
+ SAP & MES experience.
+ High-temperature composites experience.
+ Extensive carbon-carbon and/or Ceramic Matrix Composites (CMC) material testing knowledge.
+ Tribological applications.
+ Statistical and data mining experience.

The salary range for this role is 147,000 USD - 295,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels.
