Professional Rank and Salary Range: SL-2, $43,000

Duration: College Year (this position follows the academic calendar, working a 10-month schedule! Enjoy June and July off!)

Brief Description of Duties:

SUNY Morrisville is seeking a Licensed Practical Nurse to join our Health Services team.

The Licensed Practical Nurse is a vital member of our Health Services team that is committed to providing confidential, high quality, student-centered medical care to currently enrolled SUNY Morrisville students. The Health Services team strive to promote and support student wellness through treatment, education, and prevention in a caring atmosphere that respects the unique qualities of each individual.

The successful candidate for this position will be a team player and open to continuous improvement. We are willing to provide training and mentorship to motivated candidates.

Primary Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

+ Perform nursing care tasks and procedures including IM/SC medication administration, specimen collection and vital sign documentation in conjunction with clinical staff

+ Engage in health teaching including signs and symptoms of medication side effects, disease process and management, and health promotion

+ Perform laboratory specimen management

+ Complete charting in a timely manner

+ Adhere to all aspects of HIPAA confidentiality

+ Assist with clerical duties including medical/immunization data input for Banner, answering phones and making appointments for both Health Services and Counseling Services

+ Promote a team environment in providing high quality care

+ Provide outreach efforts and promote Health Services via passive and active awareness campaigns, health fairs, etc.

+ Attend professional trainings to maintain license and maintain/expand medical knowledge

+ Maintain certification in CPR/AED

Job Requirements:

Minimum Qualifications

+ Currently licensed as Licensed Practical Nurse in New York State.

+ 2+ years of experience

+ Sensitivity and willingness to work with a diverse student community.

+ Strong verbal and written communication, interpersonal, time management, and organizational skills.

Preferred Qualifications

+ Proficient in venipuncture

+ Experience working with young adults
