    POSITION DETAILS

    The Radiologic Technology Program at Hostos Community College is designed to provide students, who will work under the direction of a radiologist, with the essential skills needed to use ionizing radiation as a means of determining the nature of disease or injury. Students participate in classroom lectures, department's energized laboratory, and in clinical experiences at affiliate hospitals. Learning approaches include the use of power point presentations, computers, digital image evaluations, and laboratory assigments. Clinical education commences in the spring semester of the freshman year and continues through the six-semester program. The Radiologic Technology Program is accredited by The New York State Department of Health, Bureau of Environmental Radiation Protection, and The Joint Review Committee of Education in Radiologic Technology (JRCERT).

     

    The Radiologic Technology Department seeks applications for an Academic Internship Specialist. Under the supervision of the department chair and unit coordinator, the selected candidate will integrate the educational and clinical components of the program to provide the radiography student with a complete and comprehensive clinical experience. This position is responsible for the coordination of the clinical phase of the radiological technology program.

    Additional responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

    + Supervises students' clinical experiences at six affiliate hospitals.

    + Visits each clinical affiliate on a regular basis to ensure compliance with state and national accreditation guidelines.

    + Reviews radiation exposure reports and evaluates radiation safety procedures at each clinical site.

    + Coordinates responsibilities and clinical activities for teaching adjuncts.

    + Creates and maintains weekly, monthly, and semester reports on student's clinical performance, attendance, and progression.

    + Maintains the clinical handbook and ensures that information is up-to-date.

    + Onboards students for all clinical sites, ensuring all entry requirements and documentation is completed.

    + Attends weekly faculty meetings and provide updates on clinical education activities

    + Provides clinical schedule/calendar.

    + Additional duties as assigned.

    + Essential duties require on campus presence/in-person work.

    QUALIFICATIONS

    Bachelor's degree and four years' related experience required.

    The following qualification are preferred:

    + Proficiency in curriculum development, supervision, instruction, and counseling

    + Ability to document the equivalent of two years' full time teaching experience in the professional discipline

    + Ability to document a minimum of one year of experience as an instructor in a JRCERT accredited program

    + Certification by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologist and registered in the proper discipline

    + Bilingual skills in English and Spanish

    + Availability to work evening and weekend hours

    CUNY TITLE OVERVIEW

    Supports an academic internship program providing career development and professional work experience.

     

    - Acts as liaison between the College and employer sponsors, monitoring the success of students' internship experiences

     

    - Supervises student internships, assuring adherence to related College and governmental policies and regulations

     

    - Creates and conducts orientation sessions and workshops for students in the internship program; coordinates applications, interviews, and placement as part of overall student outreach

     

    - Provides faculty orientation and development related to internship programs

     

    - Implements and evaluates competencies and other success factors

     

    - Performs related duties as assigned.

    COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS

    $62,411 - $75,465; Salary commensurate with education and experience.

     

    CUNY is in the process of implementing salary schedule increases. Once implemented, salaries of eligible employees will be adjusted by 6.09% with additional increases of 3.25% effective 9/1/2025 and 3.5% effective 9/1/26, in accordance with the terms of the PSC-CUNY collective bargaining agreement
