    Description:

    The Admissions Coordinator, in collaboration with other healthcare professionals, is responsible for implementing an interdisciplinary process for evaluating the options and services required to meet an individual’s health care needs on admission to the health care facility. The admissions coordinator is responsible for inpatient bed management and working in collaboration with the nursing units, environmental services, the emergency department, the surgery department, the cardiac catheterization lab, registration, and physicians in the assignment of patients to beds in the facility based on their admitting diagnoses, physical and psychosocial conditions including infection status, floor specialization, level of care needed, attending physician, bed availability and severity and needs upon presentation to the facility to assure the patient is placed in the most appropriate bed in a timely manner. The Admissions Coordinator is responsible for tracking data for the facility in regards to types of admissions, bed placement delays, and other quality indicators as required. The Admissions Coordinator is also responsible for communicating with physicians to ensure patients coming into the facility are placed into the correct status and a status order is on the patient’s record and for using Interqual criteria to perform initial admission reviews for the purpose of utilization review, coverage of services to be provided, as well as identifying patients requiring follow-up by the floor care coordinator. This position will also assure proper identification of principal and secondary diagnosis in collaboration with the treating physician.

     

    **Licensure/Certification/Registration:** Current GA RN license. BLS required – must be obtained within initial 90-days of employment.

    **Education:** Must be a graduate of an accredited school of nursing, BSN recommended.

    **Experience:** Must have a minimum of 2 years experience in nursing, preferably in an acute care setting and a minimum of 1 year in case management, utilization management, or discharge planning preferred. Certification in case management preferred.

    **Special Qualifications:** Excellent communication, interpersonal, and critical thinking skills.

    **Degree of Supervision Required:** Indirect and periodic supervision. Must be capable of working independently.

    Ages of Patients Served:

    This position requires competence in assessment, treatment, and/or care for the age groups indicated. The staff member must be able to demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care, based on physical, psycho/social, educational, safety and related criteria, appropriate to the age of the patients served in her assigned area. The skills and knowledge needed to provide such care might be gained through education, training, or experience.

     

    Full Time Nights, 7pm - 7am
