SUMMARY
The Manufacturing Engineer ensures implementation and ongoing effectiveness of operating disciplines, industrial manufacturing systems and enabling technologies. Manages and implements systems to reduce variation, produce quality products, reduce inventory, reduce costs of operations and meet customer needs. Also, responsible for assisting the Setup Technicians with generating, maintaining, troubleshooting and updating automated grinding and machining station programming. Primary responsibility for designing and tracking the build process of automated fixtures. Along with testing and working with purchasing for maintaining primary and secondary grind wheels and tooling. In addition, assist with all phases of new equipment selection, testing and commissioning.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

+ Maintains awareness of best practice and drives its implementation where appropriate.
+ Identifies and implements continuous improvement projects, includes determination of problem root causes, suggests corrective actions, implements agreed actions, monitors effectiveness of agreed actions and reports on progress and results of projects.
+ Demonstrates ability to compile, display and analyze data in a logical format and uses the data to develop solutions, training and troubleshooting documents for Setup Technicians.
+ Designs standardized work practices methodology to ensure equipment remains effective as plant conditions and customer requirements change.
+ Becomes the subject matter expert for all automation equipment in Finishing. Drives implemented process control and equipment improvements with detailed technical engineering skills.
+ Create, edit, and maintain programs to control machining of castings, tooling and fixtures on automatic machine centers.
+ Review blueprints and engineering specifications to determine correct machining processes.
+ Primary responsibility for the development & manufacture of fixtures for automation.
+ Resolve discrepancies and assist in developing solutions to improve manufacturing methods and optimize cycle times.
+ Formulates engineering solutions to problems and develops plans according to project requirements. This may include technical studies, calculations and research.
+ Consults with and receives proposals and quotes from contractors and suppliers.
+ Prepares drawings, cost estimates, time schedules, written descriptions and instructions for projects.
QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Bachelor's degree (B. S.) from four-year college or university, preferred; or a two-year technical degree and three to four years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience in an industrial manufacturing facility. Key capabilities include MasterCAM/G code programming. Robotic automation, Six Sigma and/or Lean manufacturing experience helpful.
