    Position Summary:

    The Pediatric Acute Speech-Language Pathologist is responsible for evaluating, diagnosing, and treating speech, language, cognitive-communication, voice, and swallowing disorders in pediatric patients admitted to the children's hospital - an acute care setting. The SLP collaborates closely with a multidisciplinary healthcare team to ensure optimal patient outcomes and provides family education and support throughout the care process.

    Acute Care Speech Therapist Responsibilities:

    + Perform comprehensive speech-language, cognitive, and/or swallowing assessments for pediatric inpatients (infants through adolescents).

    + Develop and implement individualized treatment plans based on patient needs and medical status.

    + Provide evidence-based therapeutic interventions for speech, language, feeding, and swallowing disorders.

    + Participate in interdisciplinary rounds and collaborate with physicians, nurses, occupational and physical therapists, social workers, and dietitians.

    + Document evaluations, treatment sessions, progress notes, and discharge summaries in accordance with hospital policy and professional standards.

    + Educate and counsel patients' families and caregivers on therapeutic strategies, communication techniques, and recommendations.

    + Monitor patient progress and adjust therapy plans as needed.

    + Assist in transition planning and referrals for continued care post-discharge.

    + Maintain compliance with HIPAA regulations and hospital safety protocols.

    + Participate in quality improvement initiatives and continuing education to stay current with best practices in pediatric acute care speech pathology.

    Requirements:

    + CCC-SLP (Speech Language Pathology)

    + BLS (Basic Life Support)

    + Speech Therapy License

    + Required Master's Speech Therapy

    + Preferred Doctorate Speech Therapy
