Reports to: Executive Director of Support and Retention
Position Overview:
The Retention Manager will support the execution and enhancement of our retention programs and strategies. In this role, you will provide comprehensive operations and project management, oversee data management and analysis, and spearhead marketing and communications initiatives. You will work collaboratively across departments to ensure that program deliverables are met, data is accurately maintained, and communication efforts align with our strategic goals. This role will support long-term workforce planning and strategic initiatives aimed at strengthening employee commitment and reducing turnover.
Responsibilities:
+ Develop and implement retention strategies tailored to the unique needs of Boston Public Schools
+ Conduct stay interviews, exit interviews, and employee satisfaction surveys to gather insights on workplace challenges and opportunities
+ Analyze retention data and trends to identify key factors contributing to employee turnover and propose practical solutions
+ Partner with district leadership to enhance workplace culture and improve overall employee experience
+ Compile, manage, and maintain spreadsheets, graphs, and reports based on program data
+ Promote a culture of inclusivity by ensuring that retention strategies address the needs of a diverse workforce.
+ Manage and support major OHR events, including staff meetings and retreats
+ Execute marketing strategies to ensure consistent, accurate, and engaging

+ BPS (MEOC) Male Educators of Color Executive Coaching Program
+ BPS (ALANA) African, Latino, Asian, and Native American Educators Network (open to all)
+ Keith Love Educators of Color Peer Mentoring Program
+ Manage Affinity Spaces:
+ SLOC (School Leaders of Color)
+ SALOC (School Administrator of Color)
+ AOC (Applied Behavior Analysts of Color)
+ Bolling Black & Brown
+ Manages Retention Cox Fellow to ensure the Fellow can contribute to department goals and objectives focused on retention during their 2-year fellowship
+ Design and implement mentorship programs, professional development opportunities, recognition programs, and wellness initiatives.
+ Identify and address concerns about working conditions, workload, and employee well-being.
+ Develop and manage programs to support new staff integration and ongoing employee support.
Qualifications - Required:
+ Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources, Education Administration, Organizational Development, or a related field
+ Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in human resources, employee engagement, or a related field
+ Strong analytical skills with the ability to assess retention trends and develop actionable strategies
+ Strong project management experience
+ Demonstrated experience in developing spreadsheets and reports/database management (Excel, Google sheets)
+ Strong facilitation skills for conducting interviews, workshops, and training sessions
