Description
In this role you will perform duties of a full-time Staff Research Associate 1 (SRA1) in a cutting-edge Liver Transplant research laboratory in the Department of Surgery. Under the mentorship of the Principal Investigators, you will perform research that aims to understand the immunological mechanisms of liver transplant rejection towards developing anti-rejection treatments. The Staff Research Associate I will work with primary and passaged macrophage cell lines and research animals and will be required to complete a wide variety of common lab techniques including, but not limited to, protein expression and isolation, ELISA, IHC and Western blotting, and some advanced laboratory techniques and methods. You will be located primarily within the laboratory space but will be anticipated to interact closely with clinical and collaborating labs and personnel.
Pay Range: $26.52 - $31.63 hourly
Qualifications
Required:
+ Excellent skill in verbal and written communication, especially for the purpose of providing information to others in the laboratory.
+ Understanding of basic chemical and biological principles, especially those needed for lab work.
+ Willingness to learn how to work with live animals.
+ Advanced skill and knowledge of computer applications.
+ Skill in keeping accurate and complete records.
+ Ability to perform work in an accurate and thorough manner with close attention to detail.
+ Ability to be self-motivated, work with minimal supervision at times, handle multiple tasks and prioritize workload.
+ Ability to work as part of a team and establish cooperative working relationships with researchers, residents, students, and other support personnel.
+ Knowledge of UCLA Policies and Procedures, especially for safe lab work
+ Ability to read and understand research and clinical protocols as guidelines.
+ Organized, detail oriented, and able to quickly adapt to the addition of novel tasks.
Preferred:
+ Bachelor of Science degree in a life/biomedical science discipline
+ Ability to work with live animals.
