Southwest District Health (SWDH) is recruiting aWIC Program Specialistto join the dedicated group of public health professionals in theWomen, Infants, and Children (WIC)/Nutrition program within the Division of Family and Clinic Services.
As aWIC Program Specialistand public health employee, you will serve an active role in improving the health of your community. As part of a small, but mighty team, you will be responsible for the supervision and performance evaluation of assigned program staff and for the day-to-day operations of WIC sites. The WIC Program Specialist works with program staff to resolve technical problems including reviewing and evaluating processes for effective service delivery. This position requires the completion of Idaho WIC Program Certifier Training Program within 3-6 months from date of hire.

Our generous benefits package boosts total compensation for full-time Program Specialist, transforming the base pay range from $25.79 - $30.34/hour to an estimated total compensation value, including benefits, of $37.79 - $43.35/hour, showcasing our investment in your well-being and professional growth.
Typical Duties:
Candidates must be able to complete the essential job functions with or without reasonable accommodation and meet all the mandatory qualifications of the position.
+ Hire, train, supervise, and evaluate program staff to ensure high performance and compliance with WIC standards.
+ Assign work duties to WIC staff to maintain strict adherence to program regulations and policies.
+ Develop and implement local agency policies and procedures to ensure WIC program compliance; monitor staff and sites for adherence.
+ Use program reports to assess compliance and lead quality assurance efforts.
+ Implement SWDH policies with program staff and participate in supervisory trainings and meetings.
+ Respond promptly to customer and community provider inquiries regarding WIC services.
+ Assist with budget development and manage supply ordering and inventory across all WIC locations.
+ Provide and model excellent customer service, coordinating direct services for WIC participants as needed.
+ Plan and coordinate outreach events and marketing efforts with internal and external partners to boost WIC enrollment, tracking activities per policy.
+ Manage training, provide technical assistance, participate in quality improvement initiatives, and serve as an expert on WIC program data management and communication systems.
Minimum Qualifications:
You must possess all the minimum qualifications listed below to qualify for this position. Minimum Qualifications (MQ):
+ Some knowledge of:
- Management practices
- Program or project planning and implementation.
•Some knowledge” typically gained through either 2-4 relevant college courses, 6 months to 2 years of entry-level related work experience, or a combination of coursework and experience demonstrating the necessary knowledge.
+ Approximately 6 months of related work experience developing and evaluating policies and procedures.
MQ Specialty :
+ Valid Driver’s License
+ High School Diploma or equivalent
Ideal Knowledge, Skill, and Abilities :
+ Experience in the following areas:
- The WIC Program.
- Supervising and leading a team of paraprofessionals.
- Providing complex technical guidance to program staff.
- Reviewing, evaluating, developing and implementing effective delivery methods.
- Collaborating with other internal teams as well as community partners.
Supplemental Information:
This position is not covered by Social Security. As a result, employees do not pay Social Security taxes and will not earn credits toward Social Security retirement, disability, or survivor benefits based on earnings from this job. However, Medicare taxes will still be withheld, and these earnings will count toward Medicare eligibility.
