Position Summary
We are seeking a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to join our Advanced Cardiac Therapies (ACT) Team caring for patients with cardiomyopathy, heart failure, and pre-and post-transplant.
Key Responsibilities
• Partner with Physicians, Nurse Practitioners, staff nurses, administrative support staff and Multidisciplinary team members to provide comprehensive care across a variety of settings including the inpatient ward, cardiac catheterization suite, Cardiac ICU, and cardiac clinic.
• Frequent contact with patients and families to support the longitudinal care needs in the home setting.
• Responsibilities may include daily inpatient rounds, weekly team meetings, clinic session attendance, documentation, billing, prescriptions and prior authorization, referrals, education and anticipatory guidance and other longitudinal care coordination needs. Additional opportunity for cross coverage of lung transplant patients.
• Schedule: 40 hours per week, four 10-hour shifts Monday through Friday.
Minimal Qualifications
Education
• A Master's in Nursing or Master of Science in Physician Assistant Studies
Experience
• 5+ years of pediatric RN experience required.
• 2-3 years of cardiac nursing experience at Boston Children’s Hospital preferred.
• 3-5 years of Advanced Practice experience assisting in the care coordination of patients with complex medical needs, strongly preferred.
• PA rotations in pediatric cardiology and transplant experience preferred
• Experience managing pediatric complex care, and/or outpatient clinic experience preferred.
• Superb communication skills, flexibility and demonstrated ability to work as a team.
• Leadership experience preferred.
• Must be highly organized with strong written and verbal skills and EMR competency.
Licensure/Certifications
• Current MA NP or MA PA license with PNP or FNP certification
• Willingness to pursue certification as a Transplant Coordinator.
• BLS and PALS certification required
*Sign-on bonus of $5,000.00 (for people who have not worked at BCH in the past 2 years.)
