The WIM Mortgage Team partners with Wells Fargo Home Lending (WFHL) to provide Residential Mortgage Products for our Wealth Clients. WIM Mortgage is seeking a Wealth Underwriting Director to lead the underwriting strategy and support the WIM UW team. The WIM UW team is responsible for underwriting credit of high net worth (HNW) clients for Wealth and Investment Management along with providing consultative support to the WIM sales team by participating in structure, policy and appropriate platform discussions. The individual should possess a strong knowledge of consumer credit lending to HNW clients and have proven expertise evaluating cash flow and balance sheet profiles of individuals.
In this role, you will:
+ Provide leadership to develop and implement strategic solutions and product results to ensure prudent credit decisions and a seamless mortgage experience for the WIM Client, advisor and banker
+ Manage and develop staff with focus on delivering growth in a large portfolio within the WIM Mortgage group consistent with the overall mandate of the Credit Risk team
+ Provide vision and direction for multiple high-impact priorities including strategic growth initiatives, high net worth and ultra-high net worth mortgage underwriting policies, client experience and segment pricing enhancements, and risk-related deliverables
+ Identify and recommend opportunities for process improvement
+ Identify opportunities and strategies for credit risk management and quality of credit portfolio resulting in policy compliance and satisfactory risk exams and Credit Quality results, as well as the development of new products
+ Lead Wealth Underwriting team by making strategic decisions to resolve highly complex issues to meet higher risk deliverables
+ Interpret and develop range of policies and procedures for functions with moderate to higher complexity and risk
+ Develop, in some cases in partnership with more experienced leadership, overall portfolio strategy, including business plan, portfolio, loan limits and underwriting guidelines for the portfolio
+ Collaborate with and influence all levels of professionals, including most experienced leadership
+ Manage allocation of people and financial resources to ensure commitments are met and align with strategic objectives in Wealth Underwriting
+ Develop and guide a culture of talent development to meet business objectives and strategy

Required Qualifications:
+ 8+ years of Wealth Underwriting experience, or equivalent experience demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education
+ 4+ years of management or leadership experience
Desired Qualifications:
+ A BS/BA degree or higher
+ Knowledge of credit policy and procedures
+ Ability to interact with all levels of an organization
+ Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
+ Strong analytical skills with high attention to detail and accuracy
+ Wealth business leadership and mortgage underwriting experience in a large, complex financial organization strongly preferred
+ Demonstrated ability as a thought leader in mortgage strategy, underwriting, and business initiative execution for High Net Worth (HNW) and Ultra High Net Worth (UHNW) segments
+ Strong background in credit risk and mortgage operations, and in effectively collaborating with cross-functional teams including home lending, legal, compliance, finance and risk
+ Custom commercial and consumer credit experience
+ Strong knowledge of Mortgage Regulations
Job Expectations:
+ Up to 20% travel
+ Specific compliance policies may apply regarding outside activities and/or personal investing; affected employees will be expected to provide information to the Wells Fargo Personal Account Dealing Team and abide by applicable policy requirements if hired. Reflected is the base pay range offered for this position. Pay may vary depending on factors including but not limited to achievements, skills, experience, or work location. The range listed is just one component of the compensation package offered to candidates.
Salary is just one component of Wells Fargo's total rewards package. Depending on the role, a Wells Fargo's employee may be eligible for additional forms of compensation, such as sales incentives, discretionary bonuses, and/or equity in the company in the form of Restricted Stock Units (RSUs).
$173,300.00 - $359,900.00
