    Position Summary/Description:

    The Higher Education Legal Fellow engages in a wide-ranging practice within the Office of University Counsel ( OUC ). Reporting to an Associate University Counsel, the Legal Fellow is exposed to a variety of legal issues pertinent to colleges and universities. Areas of practice include constitutional law, employment, business operations and transactions, health care law, student matters, administrative law, intellectual property, regulatory matters, affiliation agreements, and general advocacy and litigation support.

     

    With the supervision of OUC , Legal Fellows provide legal research, advise on various legal issues, attend client meetings, conduct interviews, attend board meetings, draft contracts and other legal documents, review University policies, review discovery documents, conduct training for employees, participate in EEOC and OCR responses, and faculty hearing preparation and proceedings as well as other advocacy and litigation responses and appearances as appropriate.
