JOB DESCRIPTION
The Industrial Engineer / CI Manager role is designed to provide strategic leadership to improve site performance on an ongoing basis. The IE / CI Manager develops effective site performance measurement systems and creates major plant improvement programs that they lead and implement either through their own individual contribution or by collaborating with members of the leadership team.
A key deliverable of the role is setting and meeting continually improving plan numbers along with the development of a continuous improvement culture that empowers associates to make data driven decisions. This role also fosters associate involvement and ownership in area management.
This role is a key strategic role on the site. The associate improves the site through collaboration with the broader Leadership Team and hands-on interaction with all site associates. The candidate’s ability to influence without authority is critical for success.
The Candidate is also required to provide clear visibility through data of gaps and opportunities in the site's performance and effectively communicate these to area owners to drive engagement in capitalizing on the identified opportunities.
This role is an excellent developmental role into larger roles in the organization.
WHAT WILL BE YOUR KEY RESPONSIBILITIES?
+ Site Strategy
+ Work with the regional team and the site to define the site role within the network Site Strategy deployment to fulfill the site role
+ Owner of base masterplan submission with site technical manager
+ Support regional/global IE in providing data to establish the long-term capacity picture - develop with the SMT the site 0 - 2 years capacity plan
+ Investment planning 1–4-year time horizon
+ Develop and implement programs for improvement including process flow, people organization, work design, and ensure that all programs are implemented in a manner consistent with the operating philosophy of Royal Canin.
+ Play an active role in the regional and global IE community and share best practices
+ Benchmarking
+ Responsible for benchmarking within site (OEE, change-over, throughput, etc)
+ Benchmark site across network
+ Utilizes Global benchmarking tools across similar supply units in Mars or external
+ Communicates results to all associates, utilizes bench marking results to develop area ownership and associate development in business skills
+ Use outcome of benchmarking to establish roadmap to best in class across the different element of the toolkit for the site working with all the site teams on non-financials
+ CAB Planning
+ Own site Small Minor Capital Budget and strategy to maximize its effectiveness
+ Supports Budget Reporting and Phasing (in partnership with Eng and finance)
+ Supports writing of CAB projects for the segment (KPI matrix for the project)
+ Write Site Projects of Small Minor, and Large Minor scale.
+ Reporting
+ Weekly and Periodic Reporting to drive data driven culture and fact-based decisions
+ PM Tool Kit
+ MOS Dashboard assembler each period
+ Annual site Bible submission to RC Global (if required - ensures inputs are accurate and submitted on time)
+ Operational Excellence
+ Sets Site targets and gains alignment on key priority and working areas
+ Ongoing improvement of Key Metrics (TRS, OEE, NQC, MCC, Productivity lbs/Hr, Labor etc)
+ Contribute to the Financial roadmap
+ Partner with finance for the planning and development of annual cost standards (based on historical data and known planned improvements) and provides updates for the site Operating Plan and ensuring alignment with key business strategies
+ Build with the different site functions the 3 years roadmap linking it to the DIB program using analysis and aligning on priorities within the site leadership teams
+ Incorporate the 3 years roadmaps of site improvements into the yearly Operating plan preparation and track execution
+ Ensure KPI’s are measured and tracked inline with the global aligned definition
+ Sponsor the CI Committee and represent the team to the Leadership Team
+ Owner for the overall Associate Lead CI Program
+ FMOS (Factory Mars Operating System)
+ Establishes Key KPIs to drive sustained continuous improvement
+ Implement effective data collection and management systems to enable data driven approach to decision making
+ Owner of the system including leading its implementation and adherence to standard
+ Ensures ongoing compliance and improvement through associate engagement and audits
+ MSE (Mars Supply Excellence)
+ 5s program owner
+ Embedding POKA learning systems within the site.
+ Facilitator and Instructor of MSE fundamentals at site
+ Implementation of MSE system and adherence to standard and schedule
+ Ensure ongoing education and compliance of this system through associate engagement and a quantifiable audit system to ensure progress is sustained and growing.
+ Lead the development and implementation of change control initiatives impacting the site from an activity management perspective.
+ When necessary act as back-up senior site associate and play a key role in developing site direction in conjunction with fellow Leadership Team.
+ Actively participate in Leadership Team Impact Sessions and help drive engaging conditions within the site’s LT by helping lead and organize HPC sessions
+ Occasionally take assignment to conduct periodic town-halls to help inform factory of results and relevant information relating to IE/FMOS/MSE or other CI initiatives.
+ Represents the RNT Site when aligning Best Practices among the broader community or any Virtual Work Teams (including Production Managers Community of Excellence)
+ Active member on the Food Safety/Food Defense Team as well as serving on different safety committees and forums as needed.
+ Take on assignments as required within Mars Pet Care / Royal Canin US
WHAT ARE WE LOOKING FOR?
+ Education & Professional Qualifications
+ Post Secondary Education Preferred
+ 4 year degree from accredited University: Eng, Supply Chain, Business, or Food Science – or significant equivalent experience
+ Masters Degree Preferred (MBA, Masters (Eng), Masters (Supply Chain), preferred
+ Knowledge / Experience
+ Minimum 3-5 years manufacturing leadership experience
+ Preferred FMCPG industry
+ TPM (preferred) to include 5s program launch and management
+ Understanding of applicable laws (OHS, ESA, MOL)
+ Six Sigma Belt
+ Proven track record of Success in implementing sustained continuous improvement
+ Experience in Leading Revolutionary Change.
