    Northrop Grumman Space Systems—Launch and Missile Defense Systems offers an exciting career opportunity for a Principal Cyber Systems Engineer – Ansible Developer (25-249) to join our team of qualified and diverse individuals. This position, located in Colorado Springs, CO, plays a crucial role in supporting the U.S. President, Secretary of Defense, and combatant commanders at strategic, regional, and operational levels.

    Position Overview:

    The Command and Control, Battle Management, and Communications (C2BMC) program serves as the integrating element of the Missile Defense System. It is an essential operational system that enables the U.S. president, the secretary of defense, and combatant commanders at strategic, regional, and operational levels to systematically plan ballistic missile defense operations, collectively observe the battle's development, and dynamically manage designated networked sensors and weapons systems to achieve global and regional mission objectives. C2BMC supports a layered missile defense capability that enables an optimized response to threats of all ranges at all phases of flight. C2BMC acts as a force multiplier, globally and regionally networking, integrating, and synchronizing autonomous sensor and weapon systems and operations to enhance performance. Additionally, C2BMC is a crucial component of all system ground and flight tests, which verify and exercise the current and future capabilities of the missile defense system.

    Essential Functions:

    + Develop, deploy, and maintain Ansible playbooks, roles, and modules to automate infrastructure provisioning, configuration management, and application deployments

    + Design and implement secure automation workflows, ensuring compliance with cybersecurity best practices and industry standards (e.g., NIST, CIS)

    + Integrate Ansible with CI/CD pipelines, cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP), and on-premises systems to enable seamless end-to-end automation

    + Collaborate with cross-functional teams to architect and optimize infrastructure for scalability, resilience, and security

    + Conduct security assessments of automation scripts and infrastructure configurations to identify and mitigate vulnerabilities—document automation processes, integration workflows, and security protocols to support knowledge sharing and compliance

    + Stay current with emerging Ansible features, cybersecurity threats, and integration technologies to recommend innovative solutions that drive business value

    + Documentation and verification of all installation and configuration steps for the labs and operations deliveries

    + Providing feedback to Cyber Leadership and engineers to improve the cybersecurity tools and processes

    + A strong understanding of cybersecurity standards and compliance requirements

    + Excellent communication and teamwork skills for effective collaboration and teamwork

    + Proactive approach to troubleshooting and problem-solving

    Basic Qualifications:

    Please note your updated security clearance and IAT/relevant certifications on your resume, if applicable.

     

    + A Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Project Management, Mathematics, Physics, or a related discipline is preferred from an accredited university, accompanied by 5 years of experience; or a Master’s degree in a related discipline with 3 years of experience; or 9 years of related experience may be considered instead of a degree

    + Applicants must possess a current, active in-scope DoD-issued **Secret** security clearance at the time of application, which is necessary to start

    + DoD 8140 certification at **IAT Level II or higher** (Security+ CE, CySA+, GICSP, GSEC, SSCP, CCNA Security, etc.) is required to start

    + Proficiency in system administration for Linux/Unix and Windows

    + Expert-level proficiency in Ansible for automating the deployment, configuration, and management of cybersecurity tools

    + Writing and maintaining Ansible playbooks, roles, and modules to optimize tool installations, apply patches to applications, and ensure STIG compliance

    + Integrating Ansible into CI/CD pipelines (e.g., Jenkins, GitLab) for continuous deployment and testing

    + Proficiency in installing, configuring, and deploying any of the following cybersecurity tools:

    + **ACAS (Assured Compliance Assessment Solution)**

    + **Vulnerability scanning and compliance assessment**

    + **BigFix**

    + **Delinea**

    + **Privileged access management (PAM)**

    + **Log analysis and threat hunting using the Elastic Stack (Elasticsearch, Logstash, Kibana)**

    + **ESS (Trellix)**

    + **Axway Repeater/Responder for Windows**

    + **MFA: Multi-factor authentication implementation**

    + Experience deploying tools in Windows and Linux environments, including:

    + virtualized or containerized setups (e.g., **VMware, Docker** )

    + Capability to diagnose and troubleshoot issues during testing, including root cause analysis and error reporting

    + Knowledge of scripting languages (e.g., Python, PowerShell, Bash) for automating test cases and validating outputs

    + Expertise in applying vendor patches for cybersecurity tools and the underlying systems (Windows, Linux)

    + Understanding vulnerability management processes, such as analyzing **Common Vulnerabilities and Exposures** (CVEs) and **Information Assurance Vulnerability Management** (IAVM) notices

    + Ability to create, verify, and document installation instructions for patches to ensure consistency and compliance

    Additional Northrop Grumman Information:

    Salary Range: $110,300.00 - $165,500.00

     

    The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

     

    Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
