Description

We are looking for an experienced Auto Dealer Controller to join our team on a Contract to permanent basis in Chicago, Illinois. This role is integral to overseeing financial operations, ensuring compliance, and driving efficiency within an automotive dealership environment. The ideal candidate will bring strong leadership skills and a deep understanding of dealership accounting practices.

Responsibilities:

+ Oversee and reconcile core monthly financial operations, including cash flow, receivables, payables, payroll, fixed assets, and inter-company accounts.

+ Ensure timely completion of financial tasks such as reconciliations, reporting, and year-end documentation.

+ Analyze dealership financial statements to confirm compliance with company policies and identify variances between actual results and forecasts.

+ Collaborate with General Managers, executives, and the Chief Controller on financial planning and reporting needs.

+ Support accounting integration for new dealership acquisitions, ensuring adherence to policies and controls.

+ Lead and mentor the accounting team, including task delegation, performance reviews, and professional development.

+ Conduct training to ensure the team remains aligned with accounting standards and timelines.

+ Monitor compliance with accounting policies to maintain consistency across locations.

Requirements

• Automotive Dealership Experience and Bachelor’s degree in accounting or a related field

• At least 5 years of relevant experience requiring attention to detail.

• Minimum of 3 years of accounting experience within an automotive dealership, preferred.

• Proficiency in accounting software systems and CRM tools.

• Strong knowledge of accounts payable (AP), accounts receivable (AR), and auditing processes.

• Familiarity with budgeting and month-end close procedures.

• Excellent leadership and team management skills.

• Ability to analyze complex financial data and provide actionable insights
