Description We are looking for a detail-oriented Payroll Clerk to join our team on a long-term contract basis in Los Angeles, California. This role is integral to ensuring accurate payroll processing and compliance within the construction industry. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of payroll systems and procedures, as well as the ability to maintain confidentiality while managing employee information.
Responsibilities:
• Facilitate onboarding for new construction union team members, including safety training and project orientation.
• Prepare and submit new employee paperwork for entry into the HR data system.
• Process weekly payroll transactions and post entries accurately and on time.
• Compile and submit compliance reports, including Certified Payrolls, using relevant tracking systems.
• Apply payroll transaction rules and account coding within JD Edwards software.
• Calculate insurance credits for general liability and workers' compensation under the owner-controlled insurance program.
• Collaborate with Payroll, Corporate Accounting, and Division Finance teams to ensure seamless operations.
• Investigate payroll discrepancies, correct payments, and apply adjustments as needed.
• Maintain organized records by scanning, copying, and filing project documents and reports.
• Handle confidential employee information with discretion and professionalism. Requirements • Minimum of 2 years of experience in payroll processing or related roles.
• Proficiency in accounting software systems such as JD Edwards, ADP Workforce Now, Ceridian, and Dayforce.
• Familiarity with construction industry payroll practices, including union requirements.
• Strong understanding of accounts payable, auditing, and benefit functions.
• Ability to meet strict deadlines while maintaining accuracy.
• Excellent organizational skills for managing records and compliance documentation.
• Effective communication skills to interact with various internal teams.
• High level of discretion and confidentiality when handling sensitive employee information.
