Description We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) Coordinator with a background in manufacturing or a similar industry to help our organization maintain compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations. This role is ideal for candidates who possess transferable skills, such as cross-functional collaboration, program implementation, and safety compliance management, and are eager to bring their expertise to a dynamic environment. This company has the potential to combine two positions into a more mid-senior level role or they may be on the hunt for two entry level or career advancement individuals (compensation will be adjusted accordingly.)
The EHS Coordinator will primarily focus on administrative, analytical, and strategic duties, ensuring that health and safety programs align with industry standards, minimize risk, and support environmental sustainability. Hands-on work with machinery or hazardous materials is NOT required in this role.
Key Responsibilities: Policy Development and Compliance: Develop, implement, and maintain EHS policies, procedures, and programs that align with OSHA, EPA, and other industry-specific regulations. Maintain compliance with local, state, and federal environmental and safety standards while adapting to the unique needs of manufacturing and operational processes. Act as the liaison with regulatory authorities during audits, inspections, and compliance reviews. Training and Education: Design and deliver safety and compliance training programs for employees, with an emphasis on topics relevant to manufacturing environments such as ergonomics, hazard communication, and emergency preparedness. Create resources and initiatives to foster a culture of safety among employees at all levels. Risk Management and Incident Reporting: Conduct detailed risk assessments and safety audits within manufacturing or comparable operational settings to identify potential hazards and improvement opportunities. Collaborate with internal teams to investigate reported accidents, analyze data to determine root causes, and develop corrective action plans. Build actionable monthly and quarterly reports, summarizing key safety and compliance metrics and trends for senior management. Administrative and Operational Support: Develop and enforce environmental protocols within manufacturing processes, such as proper waste management and pollution prevention, while ensuring minimal disruption to workflow processes. Manage vendor partnerships for environmental initiatives, such as recycling programs, energy efficiency, and preventive inspections. Monitor spending and budget allocation for EHS programs and propose cost-effective strategies to improve operational safety and compliance. Environmental Management: Oversee environmental compliance, including emissions tracking, resource conservation efforts, and sustainability programs geared toward manufacturing needs. Track and evaluate data related to environmental KPIs such as energy consumption, waste output, and water usage to achieve sustainability goals. Requirements Requirements: Education and Experience: Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Occupational Health and Safety, Industrial Management, or a related field highly desired - new graduates encouraged to apply! 2–5 years of experience in an EHS role, preferably in a manufacturing or industrial setting. Strong understanding of safety protocols and regulations relevant to manufacturing or similar industries. Certifications (Preferred): OSHA 30-Hour Certification or industry-specific safety certifications. Certified Safety detail oriented (CSP), Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH), or equivalent certifications are a plus. Key Skills: Proven ability to design and implement EHS programs tailored to manufacturing or industrial environments. Familiarity with common workplace hazards, risk management, and mitigation strategies in manufacturing or related industries. Strong documentation and reporting skills to maintain detailed compliance records and generate management summaries. Effective interpersonal and communication skills to train employees and collaborate with cross-functional teams. Soft Skills: Analytical and detail-oriented mindset to assess risks and identify opportunities for improvement. Adaptability to navigate evolving regulations and manufacturing dynamics.
