Description We are looking for a dedicated Staff Accountant to join our team in Norwalk, Connecticut. This Contract to permanent position is ideal for a detail-oriented individual with a strong background in accounting practices and foreign currency transactions. The successful candidate will play a vital role in supporting international sales and purchasing activities, ensuring accurate financial records and compliance with regulatory standards.
Responsibilities:
• Manage accounts payable and accounts receivable processes to ensure timely and accurate payments and collections.
• Perform detailed bank reconciliations to maintain the accuracy of financial records.
• Prepare and post journal entries to the general ledger, ensuring proper documentation and compliance.
• Assist in month-end close procedures, including the preparation of financial reports and account reconciliations.
• Analyze and manage foreign currency transactions to support international sales and purchasing operations.
• Utilize accounting systems such as NetSuite, Oracle, QuickBooks, and SAP to perform daily accounting tasks.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support the company's financial objectives and reporting requirements.
• Contribute to the maintenance and organization of general ledger accounts.
• Ensure compliance with accounting principles and applicable regulatory standards.
• Support audits and provide necessary documentation to external auditors as required. Requirements
+ Foreign Currency Accounting: Manage all aspects of foreign currency transactions, including revaluation, translation, and consolidation.
+ Foreign Exchange Risk Management: Monitor and assess foreign exchange exposure, collaborating with management to develop and implement strategies to mitigate currency risk.
+ Financial Reporting: Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements with emphasis on foreign currency adjustments to ensure compliance with GAAP or IFRS.
+ FX Revaluation & Reconciliation: Perform revaluation and reconciliation of foreign currency-denominated accounts, including balances, transactions, and hedging instruments.
+ Hedging Strategies: Assist in developing and executing hedging strategies (e.g., forward contracts, options) to manage currency risk and minimize the impact of exchange rate fluctuations.
+ Intercompany Transactions: Oversee intercompany accounting for international entities, ensuring correct elimination of foreign currency transactions in the consolidation process.
+ Audit and Compliance: Support preparation of financial reports for internal and external audits, focusing on foreign currency accounting accuracy and regulatory compliance.
+ Tax Compliance: Collaborate with tax teams to ensure adherence to international tax regulations, including transfer pricing and VAT/GST considerations related to foreign currency transactions.
+ Variance Analysis: Analyze and explain variances in foreign currency exchange rates, identifying significant impacts on the company’s financial position and profitability.
+ Documentation and Reporting: Maintain comprehensive and transparent documentation of foreign currency transactions and hedging activities to meet company policies and regulatory requirements.
+ Collaborative Support: Provide financial analysis and reports to senior management and cross-functional teams, advising on the effects of foreign currency fluctuations on business decisions.
+ Process Improvement: Recommend and implement improvements to foreign currency accounting processes, enhancing accuracy, efficiency, and compliance.
