    Description

    We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Senior Accountant to join our client in the manufacturing industry, based in Southington, Connecticut. In this critical role, you will oversee key accounting functions, support financial reporting, and drive accuracy in the management of company finances. The ideal candidate will bring strong technical accounting knowledge, exceptional analytical skills, and experience in the manufacturing sector to this role.

    Key Responsibilities:

    + General Ledger Oversight: Manage and maintain the general ledger, ensuring all financial transactions are accurately recorded in compliance with GAAP standards.

    + Financial Reporting: Prepare and analyze monthly, quarterly, and year-end financial statements, ensuring timely and accurate delivery to management.

    + Cost Accounting: Assist with manufacturing cost accounting processes, including inventory valuation, standard costing, variance analysis, and production expenses.

    + Reconciliations: Perform reconciliations for key accounting areas such as inventory, assets, payroll, and intercompany transactions.

    + Budgeting and Forecasting: Collaborate with operational leaders to prepare annual budgets, conduct periodic forecasts, and analyze variances.

    + Audit Support: Assist with internal and external audits by preparing schedules, documentation, and responding to auditor inquiries.

    + Compliance and Reporting: Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal reporting requirements, including tax filings and regulatory submissions.

    + Process Optimization: Recognize opportunities to improve accounting and reporting processes and implement operational efficiencies.

    + Mentorship: Provide guidance and support to junior accounting team members, fostering professional development and collaboration.

    Requirements

    Qualifications and Skills Required:

    + Education:

    + Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field required.

    + CPA designation or active progress toward certification preferred.

    + Experience:

    + 5+ years of experience in accounting, with a focus on manufacturing and cost accounting preferred.

    + Familiarity with ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, or NetSuite) in a manufacturing environment.

    + Technical Skills:

    + Advanced Excel skills (e.g., pivot tables, VLOOKUP, and financial modeling).

    + Strong knowledge of GAAP and cost accounting principles.

    + Detail-Oriented: A high degree of accuracy in preparing and analyzing financial data.

    + Analytical and Problem-Solving Skills: Ability to evaluate complex financial information, identify trends, and provide actionable recommendations.

    + Communication Skills: Strong verbal and written communication skills to collaborate with cross-functional teams and present financial information to leadership.

    + Organizational Skills: A proven track record of managing multiple tasks and meeting deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
