    Description

    The Housing Stability Coordinator is responsible for assisting in the oversight of a team responsible to stabilize and facilitate connection to resources and/or relocation for residents facing housing insecurity and/or homelessness including oversight of diversion or connection to emergency shelter for residents facing housing insecurity at the time of a housing crisis. The Housing Stability Coordinator will assist the Housing Stability team in the oversight of up 500 or more households. In-person site visits are required for all households, as well as weekly contact with households within the caseload is required. Duties include closely coordinating with City Departments and stakeholders to receive and assign emergency housing cases to a team of case managers.

     

    The City of Detroit Housing and Revitalization Department's Detroit Housing Services Office (DHS) looks to address city-wide housing insecurity with preventative, responsive and broadly available measures. DHS is structured to meet a broad range of housing needs faced by residents, through an internal continuum of services and as a participant’s housing needs change, so does the type of services available to them within the program.

     

    Examples of Duties

     

    + Analyze and evaluate, on a quantitative or qualitative basis, the effectiveness of program operations in meeting established goals and objectives.

    + Independently conducts field surveys and carries out routine research in connection with budget, legislative or management studies and/or performs analysis of actual expenditures compared to the budget.

    + Utilize data collection and analysis techniques to evaluate individual programs; submit oral and written reports to management personnel for their consideration and decision-making.

    + Research and investigate new or improved business and management practices for application to agency programs or operations.

    + Review audit and investigative reports to determine appropriate changes or corrective action required.

    + Review, analyze, and evaluate grants/assistance applications, plans, and estimates.

    + Establish and maintain collaborative working relationships with community resource organizations.

    + Prepare resource applications on behalf of residents and tracking application submission.

    + Respond to housing emergencies, perform on-site intake and needs assessment interviews; create client profiles and document case notes.

    + Performs special projects and other duties as assigned.

    Minimum Qualifications

    Qualifications (required):

    + Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university, with major course of work in business administration, public administration, public policy, economics, finance, accounting, urban studies, information technology, or a closely related field.

    + Minimum of two (2) years’ professional experience involving the systematic review of financial data or two (2) years of experience in customer service and health, human or social services or related field.

     

    Equivalent combinations of education and experience may be substituted to meet the education and experience requirements of this position.

    RETIREMENT BENEFITS

    City Employees Retirement System

    As a regular City employee you automatically become a member of the General Retirement System. This entitles you to a retirement allowance after:

     

    • Completion of thirty (30) years of service;

     

    - At age sixty (60) if you have at least ten (10) years of service, or

     

    - At age sixty-five (65) with eight (8) years of service.

     

    • In the event of disability, other eligibility rules apply);

     

    - An early, actuarially reduced, retirement is offered after you have attained at least twenty-five (25) years of service;

     

    • Employees are vested after ten (10) years of service, regardless of age.
