    The State of Connecticut (https://portal.ct.gov/) Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV (https://portal.ct.gov/dmv) ) has two (2) anticipated opportunities for Motor Vehicles Summer Workers (https://www.jobapscloud.com/CT/specs/classspecdisplay.asp?ClassNumber=5704VR&R1=&R3=) in Wethersfield.

    POSITION HIGHLIGHTS

    + Full Time, 40 hours/week.

    + Seasonal role with an a nticipated start date in July 2025 and ending by December 2025.

    + Monday-Friday.

    + First Shift, 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM.

    + Positions based in Wethersfield, CT.

    THE ROLE

    Under the direction of the Commissioner's Office in Wethersfield, t he Motor Vehicles Summer Workers will support the DMV on special projects during the summer of 2025. Assisting various departments (training/legal/administrative hearing/vehicle and business regulation) in maintaining appropriate service delivery for its customers during busy summer months, you will assist in the following clerical tasks: filing, typing, copying, recording information, answering telephones, reception duties, data entry and computing, office machine operations, inventory, mail processing and other related duties as required.

    At the DMV, we are dedicated to protecting the health and safety of the motoring public through education, outreach and enforcement in the areas of vehicle weight and safety inspections, heavy duty diesel emission testing, traffic enforcement and investigations of any motor vehicle related complaints.

    Minimum and maximum hourly rates will be subject to the following criteria:

    + Returning Seasonal Workers may receive $.50 an hour additional compensation for each season of service up to the maximum hourly rate.

    OR

    + Experienced workers in the specific functional area with another employer may be credited with such time on an equivalent basis to seasons worked and granted the same additional compensation up to the maximum hourly rate.

    OR

    + Undergraduate or graduate students may be granted additional compensation of up to $.50 more per hour (up to the maximum hourly rate) for each full year of completed education on the basis of 30 semester hours equaling one (1) year.

     

    NOTE: Determination of hourly rate is based on the above criteria. Additional compensation is based on only one criterion. It is not intended for individuals to receive additional compensation through application of the multiple criteria listed above.

    EXAMPLES OF DUTIES

    KNOWLEDGE, SKILL AND ABILITY

    + Knowledge of

    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

    Any experience and training that could reasonably be expected to provide the knowledge, skills and abilities listed above.

    PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

    + Experience or coursework with general business principles, practices or procedures

    + Experience working in a customer service environment.

    + Experience or coursework utilizing computer programs such as Microsoft Office.

    + Experience using interpersonal verbal and written communication skills.

    + Experience completing assignments independently, and as a team.

    SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS

    + Incumbents in this class assigned to recreational activities must be able to perform emergency first aid as needed and certain positions will require a current Standard First Aid Certificate.

    + Incumbents in this class assigned as bus drivers or operators of a motor vehicle must possess and retain a current Connecticut Motor Vehicle Operator License to drive a bus and/or a Motor Vehicle Operators License as necessary.

    + Incumbents in this class may be required to travel.
