    Job Description

    Job Title: Participation Direction Coordinator- Atlanta

     

    Pay Grade: L

     

    Work Designation: Remote

    Job Summary:

    Under the supervision of the Family Support Manager, within the Office of Community Services, manages the daily operations of the statewide Participant-direction (PD) model for the NOW/COMP Medicaid waiver program for individuals with intellectual/developmental disabilities.

    Responsibilities:

    • Create and implement training curriculums for individuals and family representatives interested in choosing the Participant-direction model

    • Provide ongoing information and assistance regarding Participant-direction to individuals and family representatives

    • Review and revise policy and procedures for the Participant-directed model

    • Facilitate statewide Participant-directed Advisory Council meetings quarterly

    • Develop content and provide resource information for the quarterly DBHDD PD e-newsletter

    • Serve as a liaison to the Department of Community Health (DCH) contracted Fiscal Support Services agencies for financial management related services, concerns, and issues

    • Serve as point of contact and subject matter expert for Regional Field Office staff and Support Coordination staff on matters related to the Participant-direction program

    • Review and determine appropriateness of Family Hire Requests which have been denied by the Regional Field Office staff and notify individuals and family representatives of final decision

    • Use available DBHDD data systems to monitor PD program compliance and quality assurance

    • Conduct quality assurance monitoring reviews of a 5% sample of PD participants quarterly

    • Investigate individual reports of misuse of PD funds and/or policy non-compliance. Draft and track warning and termination letters approved by Legal department and sent to Participant-direction model participants

    • Collaborate with the Office of Inspector General (OIG), the Attorney General’s Office, DBHDD Legal department, and DCH on reporting allegations and investigations of fraud as required by policy

    • Complete work on additional projects as assigned

    Preferred Qualifications:

    • Experience working with individuals with intellectual/developmental disabilities

    • Experience working with Medicaid Waiver programs

    • Strong communication and organizational skills

    • Strong conflict resolution and problem-solving skills

    Bachelor's degree in operations management, business administration, or a related field which includes two (2) years in a managerial or supervisory role; or six (6) years of related professional experience which includes two (2) years in a managerial or supervisory role. Note: An equivalent combination of knowledge, education, job or intern experience, training, or certifications that provides the necessary knowledge and skills to successfully perform the job at the level listed may be substituted year-over-year.
