Job Title: Senior Buyer
Job Description
This role emphasizes purchasing over planning and involves forecasting from short-term (3-60-90 days) to long-term (2-3 years) as the company plans to launch products in the US and Japan. The position requires managing established supplier relationships and collaborating closely with the sourcing department to communicate forecasting and demand schedules, ensuring suppliers have necessary parts available.
Responsibilities
+ Strategically manage inventory to ensure optimal material availability across production and storage areas, balancing supply with forecasted and actual demand.
+ Lead end-to-end procurement activities for multiple departments, ensuring compliance with internal controls, budgetary constraints, and purchasing policies.
+ Develop and execute purchasing plans aligned with ERP systems and 'Plan for Every Part' to support production schedules and minimize disruptions.
+ Monitor and evaluate supplier performance, cost structures, and delivery reliability; initiate corrective actions and continuous improvement initiatives as needed.
+ Collaborate cross-functionally with Engineering, Quality, Production, and Planning teams to support new product introductions, engineering changes, and material substitutions.
+ Resolve invoice and receiving discrepancies by coordinating with Accounting and Receiving teams to ensure timely and accurate financial transactions.
+ Support supplier onboarding and qualification, working closely with Quality Assurance to gather documentation, facilitate communication, and maintain the Approved Supplier List (ASL).
+ Ensure compliance with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), company policies, and applicable regulatory requirements.
+ Handle indirect purchasing needs, particularly related to ongoing construction as they add 14 additional production lines.
+ Work with both standard products and custom products for new product introductions and research and development for clinical trials.
Essential Skills
+ 4+ years of experience in purchasing and planning, preferably in the medical device industry.
+ Proficiency in ERP systems, with experience using JDE preferred, but open to Oracle, SAP, etc.
+ Advanced Excel skills including pivot tables, VLOOKUPs, and preferably macros/formulas.
+ Experience with smaller components and multi-level Bill of Materials (BOMs).
+ Capability to create own planning/purchasing schedule within Excel.
+ Comfortable with forecasting out at least 90 days and ideally 2-3 years.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
+ Experience in class 3 medical devices is preferred, but candidates from aerospace with relevant skills are welcome.
+ Comfortable walking production floor/clean room and wearing necessary protective attire (bunny suit).
+ Ability to handle purchase orders with over 100 line items.
+ Flexibility to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changes quickly.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $43.00 - $57.00/hr.
