This position will ensure reimbursement optimization through the hospital charge function and will be responsible for performing all charge related functions for the assigned clinical department(s) in accordance with established charging policies and procedures per supporting documentation contained in the patient record.
JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Charge Capture Analyst performs the charging functions for patient care department(s) in accordance with established charging policies and procedures per supporting documentation contained in the patient record. Essential job duties and responsibilities are as follows:
+ Performs charge reconciliation for the assigned clinical department(s).
+ Review and balance charge reconciliation report each day for accuracy.
+ Provides ongoing education to clinical staff on the appropriate application of charges available for their department.
+ Identifies charting deficiencies which impact charging. Assists management in identifying areas of opportunity for improved charge capture.
+ Maintains confidentiality of all materials handled within the Network/ Entity as well as the proper release of information.
+ Complies with Network and departmental policies regarding issues of employee, patient and environmental safety and follows appropriate reporting requirements.
+ Demonstrates financial responsibility and accountability through the effective and efficient use of resources in daily procedures, processes and practices.
PHYSICAL AND SENSORY REQUIREMENTS:
Sitting for up to 8 hours per day, 3 hours at a time. Consistent use of hands and fingers for typing, telephone, data entry, etc. Occasional twisting and turning. Uses upper extremities to lift and carry up to 10 pounds. Stoops, bends and reaches above shoulder level to retrieve files. Hearing as it relates to normal conversation. Seeing as it relates to general vision. Visual monotony when reading reports and viewing computer screen.
EDUCATION REQUIREMENT: Associates Degree in Business Administration or Healthcare related field
PREFERRED TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE: Formal training or experience in Medical Terminology, ICD-10 coding, CPT coding, CDM maintenance, or Hospital Charge Policy work.
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS: Must be able to meet data entry and reporting deadlines on a recurring basis. Proficient in use of Windows, Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook. Ability to adapt to other computer software or applications as needed.
