    The mission of the District Attorney’s Office is to keep the community safe and to make the criminal justice system better through the fair and ethical prosecution of criminal offenders, while seeking justice for victims of crime.

     

    The District Attorney’s Office seeks a dynamic, self-motivated individual to perform professional work in support of the local Criminal Justice Coordinating Council (CJCC). The CJCC is an organization of Criminal Justice leaders in Adams and Broomfield counties that come together to improve the accessibility of a fair and just criminal justice system for the residents of the 17th Judicial District.

     

    This position will require someone with a passion for improving the criminal justice system who can perform project management, meeting facilitation, data and policy analysis, oral and written presentation of material, management of complex long- and short-term initiatives, and coordination of a variety of entities in the local criminal justice system.

     

    Examples of Duties for Success

     

    + Works well directly with CJCC membership, including elected officials, municipal and county department heads, judicial officers, and high-ranking law enforcement personnel.

    + Works independently and autonomously to advance the CJCC and District Attorney’s strategic priorities.

    + Oversees and coordinates data, website, and technology-related efforts of the CJCC and its committees.

    + Identifies grant and other funding opportunities; prepares grant requests and submissions; coordinates and facilitates active grants and prepares related reporting.

    + Monitors new policies and legislation at the state and local levels.

    + Performs process and outcome evaluations of programs and policies.

     

    Coordinates and drafts strategic planning documents.

     

    + Performs other related duties and responsibilities as required.

    To be successful, our candidate should have the following knowledge, skill, and abilities:

    + Ability to think independently, rationally, analytically, and critically.

    + Skilled at techniques for effective group facilitation and presentation.

    + Experience or advanced training in project management

    + Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing.

    + Ability to relate effectively to a variety of people (e.g., elected officials, judges and attorneys, police officers, department heads, case managers, offenders, victims, citizens) in a variety of contexts.

    + Ability to tactfully manage the concerns of policymakers who sometimes have competing priorities.

    + Knowledge of the purpose, structure, and funding sources of government agencies at the municipal, county, and state levels.

    + Knowledge of case processing of defendants, offenders, victims, and clients in the criminal and juvenile justice systems.

    + Computer skills: word processing, spreadsheet, database, statistical, presentation, email, and internet software applications.

     

    Qualifications for Success

    Experience:

    + A minimum of two years of experience working in the criminal justice field.

    + Master's degree in criminal justice, or a related field, can be substituted for the two years of experience requirement.

    Education and Training:

    + Bachelor's degree in a relevant field such as project management, criminal justice, public administration, public policy, or political science.

    + Master's degree in a relevant field preferred

    Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

    + Considerable knowledge of the criminal justice system.

    + Proficient in the use of spreadsheet, word processing, and presentation software.

    + Ability to analyze and interpret complex data and to present findings.

    License or Certificate:

    + Possession of, or ability to obtain, a valid Colorado Driver's License.

    + Possession of, or ability to obtain, Colorado certification of CCIC/NCIC operation.

     

    Background Check: Must pass a criminal background check.
